Blue screen of death

Okay so after a recent update for endless space 2, I have had five blue screens of death on my windows 7. I even have out of no where crashes if I even on bootstrapper. I know its ES2 because if I uninstall it in safe mode and re boot everything is fine. it seems to have something to do with this damn update. I have varified the files, I had uninstalled and reinstalled ES2 and it just keeps breaking the computer. Do I jsut need to this game perminately off my computer or is there a way to fix it? what do i need to share?

1) Run a FULL UPDATE on any 3rd Party Codecs
If you have a 3rd party codec pack like K-Lite or others fun a FULL update on it. An older ffmpeg.dll file can cause the game to crash.
Things to look for
* Klite Codec Pack
* VLC Player

2)You could check out if
-force-opengl
command does fix you issue.
1. Right mouse button click on Endless Space 2 in Steam game list
2. Properties
3. Set Launch Options
4. Add: "-force-opengl"

That's a huge assumption to make from the data given here.

If you mean for your own system, yes, changing out your thermal paste often helps; it breaks down over time, and/or may very well not have been applied correctly, in the first place. You should also clean EVERY fan and the entire mobo, and try to ensure air paths in your case are as clear as possible. A few zip-ties can make a really big difference...

well the most recent change considering VLC was that I downloaded it at the end of May to rip a video. didn't work, but that means I can toss it. if I uninstall VLC could that sort things out?

Highly unlikely, as VLC, itself, doesn't NEED codecs, and makes 0 changes to your system. It does, however, come with certain codec packs, just as Media Player Classic comes with many. so w/e pack may be the issue ^^'.

I'd grab a new copy of the k-lite codec pack[codecguide.com]; it's free, useful anyway, and may very well fix your problem. The "Basic" set is fine but "Standard" (with Media Player Classic) is good too, take your pick.

okay, i downloaded that. I am still wary of trying to re-install this game for risk of it killing my computer again. anything else I sound do before trying this?
