Hamachi, anyone?

I don't own ES2; I play on a borrowed system, so I can't a) play multiplayer, or b) install any new software on that system. Nevertheless, it occurred to me that LAN (local network) play has none of the issues WAN (internet) play has with desyncs and such, at least that I know of. Which leads me to the question:

Has anyone tried Hamachi[www.vpn.net] (free, up to 5 simultaneous connections) yet, instead of a normal connection? I think its virtual LAN might help with ES2's current terrible connection issues, you see. I can't test it at all on my end, but I'd dearly love to have someone test this.

If it works, anyone who helps figure this out will be at least a minor hero and/or legend among ES2 players. So be a pal, download Hamachi — it's legit, no worries — and check it out; all you have to lose is installation time for Hamachi (which is, BTW, pretty useful anyway, esp. if you like retro games).

If anyone gives it a go, thanks, whether or not this works; this has been bugging the p!ss out of me for a couple of days ^^'.

so for past 3 hours steam servers were going crazy and im looking for the same solution.

I own the game now on my own system, I really ought to see if this works.

Major source of desyncs right now is a temporary OnPirateBaseDestroyed effect that gives Academy relation. There is a workaround for it included in the Community Fixes mod.

You can also try turning Pirates off in game setup.
