SPOILERS: Antihero With A Thousand Faces (Part3)
All right, so this is a neat quest.
I got to part three, I chose to make him a potential governor.
Several turns down the lane, trying to get him to one of my systems, the quest fails every time. I load a save that's one, two, three turns prior, even one save where I ahve yet to decide on whether I want to make him an admiral or governor.

It always ends with the ship being destroyed, even though his stolen hero ship is merrily on it's way in the middle of nowhere, with my other hero ship attached in the same fleet for a high boost to movement.
He's in the middle of the map when this happens, and I'm on the far outside of a Spiral4 universe, so it takes at least 4-5 turns from making the choice to get him to one of my systems.

Is this a fixed outcome?
Is there a turn limit that's not mentioned?
Does the admiral option work with a succesful outcome?

I don't mind the spoilers, I just want to know if I'm having a bug, and these questions will help.

Thanks!

To add to my own thread; turns out it's a bug.
You can avoid this by never merging the Stolen Hero Ship with any other fleet, and just command it to go straight to one of your systems.

You know that your goal is to actually bring him to the academy to complete that quest, and nowhere else? He does NOT become a working hero before you actually did that.

I've never had him being attacked, and I always sent him alone. He was usually never very far away from the academy when I managed to intercept him, so completing the quest was quick'n'easy.

You're wrong on that. Might wanna do some research before making a bold statement!

You get to pick whether he becomes an admiral or a governor. IIRC the choice is between seeker or counselor.
if[/i] you pick him to be an admiral, you have to bring him to the academy.
If you pick him to be a governor, you have to bring him to one of your colonies and move the ship into that hangar.

Like I clearly say; it is an acknowledged bug by the devs.
The workaround is to simply not merge him with other fleets and order his single ship to go to one of your colonies. It takes longer this way, but there's no time limit on this stage of the event.
I confirmed this workaround works.
The bug is that the game falsely tags off the ship as destroyed when it is merged into another fleet. Another way around it might have been merging the other fleet into his, but I didn't try that.

Obviously the point to the merging is a speed boost. Through ship modules or another hero with movement bonuses. In this stage of the event, he's not a hero in his own fleet, so you're technically free to add a different hero to it.
