Trade routes not working?
Ok I have all the tech's for trading and worm hole tech and the extra subs tech. They are linked through the star lane and no pirates to block and yet they wont establish trade routes. Is this a bug or am I missing a hiddle switch? Game says i need to discovery the tech for worm holes but i did already... I got the HQ and subs real close just to make sure they would work and it wont.

Also my space ports are not working to send people. Do mods break these things? cause i have most techs and tried different races and same effect.

In order for trade routes to work, you must:

  • build HQs
  • build subsidiaries
  • make trading agreements with other factions through diplomacy (I have a feeling this is what you're missing)

In order for spaceports to work, you have to manually drag population markers from your planets into the spaceport slots and then click the icon to the right and choose a destination.

If you're doing all of this and it's not working, then yeah, there's a serious problem there somewhere.

It should be mentioned, you don't need to have for trade (routes). You can have trade routes within your own empire, too.

As far as I'm aware, those "routes" are only between HQs and subsidiaries, and don't actually do anything until you've got counterpart subsidiaries in other factions (which happens automatically over time if you have trading agreements with them).

Incorrect. I did recheck a savegame. In case you have a trade route within your own empire (I did have no external ones) and anyone blocks it (pirates or enemy factions fleets) you get dust, luxuries and/or science out of it - depending on what trade ships you choose to push.

Sorry for the late reply and thanks for all the responses. I found out a mod i had pretty much disabled half the game.

Yeah, if you are having issues, the first thing to do is can mods.

This is happening to me too and I have no mods at all. I can visually trace a route through open borders between my headquarters and internal subsidiary and it still says it can't trace a route and I need wormhole tech even though I've had that tech for about 50-turns now.

Something weird is going on, I've had successful trade routes before (in other games in the past)...some bug is occuring...possibly linked to some of this newer official content/updates...
