How to buyout a system?
I have a tech tree challenge in the empire improvement section asking me to buyout three systems, how do I do this?

Playing as UE.

Expand one of your systems influence untill the influence "bubble" around your system reaches the system you want to buyout. You will then have the option to buyout that system using influence, which gets cheaper as time passes. Works only at peace/coldwar with the major/minor faction that owns the system. It cannot be be a neutral system. And offcourse, you need to research the appropriate tech in the empire quadrant of the tech tree.

does it work on arks? I have a few systems under my influence, but they are both ark systems.

You can't buy out ark systems becauase of the way the Voyandi work

Can someone share a screenshot? I'm nearly completed with all T4 research and am generating influence to the point that I've got more than 20k influence racked up. Another civilization just completed the buyout 3 systems deed... I can't figure out how to buyout another system. I do not see any greyed out buttons, I am at peace with several star systems that my influence completely engulfs. Where the heck is the buyout option?!?!?! Thanks.

Make sure:

a) you did research SLC (Supra-Light Content) Systems in stage four of the Empire Development technology tree
b) you are not playing Vodyani (doesn't work in case of Vodyani faction - it's ship-bound)
c) the Unfallen are unique in that they cannot be forced out of a system peacefully through conversion
d) you have peace with the empire you want to convert (you did, I know)

It's the top result on Google for this question. "Necroing" hasn't been a bad thing since 2006. Thanks for updating with information.

Since the necromancy has happened. You can do this to Vodyani. The ark is destroyed and the pops end up on one of the planets. Happened to me in one of my games because I dropped an ark in someone's area of influence and they influence bought it next turn. I was able to repair the ark.

I don't know if the Vodyani can do it to someone else though. I do know they get basically free essence leech on any systems in their influence if they have the tech.

does this work on Pirate Systems as well? I'm guessing "No, because Pirates are not consideredto be a Minor Faction" but please confirm :D
thanks
