How to get "I Am the Eternal End" achievement?

Just played a game as Cravers against five other AI on Serious difficulty, and I wanted to "Win by eliminating all the other empires" to unlock this achievement. I decided to leave all the possible victory conditions as achievable when I set up the game, so as to challenge myself by winning this way before winning by other means.

Took a long time, but I eventually eliminated all other empires except the Sophons, and was blockading their last remaining system (which of course was their Home system). I then seemed to come across a weird bug where they had a fleet that simply wouldn't take damage, no matter what I flung at it. I quit the game and reloaded and this bug disappeared.

Anyway, I conquered their final system, after I had destroyed all of their fleets... and out of the conquered system comes several more ships, including colonizers, which I am unable to destory before the end of the turn... I then win a Supremacy victory, but the achievement for eliminating everyone doesn't pop up.

How are you supposed to get this achievement? I noticed earlier in the game that whenever I took all of an empire's systems, their ships still hung around for a few turns before the empire was completely eliminated. Is the only way to get it to disable Supremacy Victory?

There isn't even a way to get rid of conquered home systems so as to prevent yourself activating the Supremacy Victory. I found out in this game that I could never evacuate/raze a home system I had conquered, even once I'd waited to have 100% ownership. I found this was the same for systems that originally belonged to minor factions. (Very annoying for the Cravers when you want to chuck away useless systems.)

So is the only way to unlock "I Am the Eternal End" to disable Supremacy Victory? Has anyone here unlocked it with all victory types enabled?

Well, I did find a solution! Sorry I forgot to post my update.

A trick to deploy is to use Privateers. You can invade systems with Privateer armies, but when you conquer them, they don't come under your empire's ownership. So the galaxy can have empty Home systems! This way you can mop up any remaining existance of an enemy empire without worrying about getting a Supremacy victory first.

Another solution is to fight against the Vodyani and leave them till last. If you just destroy their arks, you again don't bring the system into your empire, so there can be an empty Vodyani Home system.

I got this achievement several months ago, so don't know if the way Privateers/Vodyani work has now been changed.

Okay, thanks for the update. Does the achievement require killing the minor civilizations, too; or does it only require major civilizations?

I'm afraid I'm not sure on that. I can't remember if all the minor civilisations were assimilated in the game where I unlocked the achievement.

Ok, thanks for the update. If you assimilated even one of them, then that means that they do not need to be destroyed, which in turn means that only the major factions need to be destroyed.

We'll see if anyone else who achieves this feat replies before I can attempt it on a game when I have time. Thanks again.
