Blockade Bug?
Playing as UE, just made a Truce with Cravers to a war. They have one ship blockading my primary system and i cannot attack it. According to the Truce tool tip, I'm not able to attack the enemy unless in home or neutral territory.

Based on some other threads, it seems like the blockade mechanic is fairly buggy, but haven't seen this specific circumstance of blockade issues being mentioned.

Isn't there a government type or law that allows you to blockade during a truce/cold-war?

The bug is that I cannot attack the blockading fleet.

What happens when you set your own fleet surrounding the system to "Guard/Blockade"?

Yes this is an undesirable AI behaviour that needs to be fixed. They ought to be withdrawing fleets not maintaining blockades.

In the meantime, you can break the truce and declare war. They are Cravers so they didn't deserve peace anyway.

The Guard System button is greyed out, it just says "this system is already guarded by another fleet" or something like that.

More than 1 year later, and after 2 paid expansions, still the same bug.

Are you sure your system is actually under blockade?

It's perfectly possible to have a fleet set to guard in the territory of an empire you're at peace with. It won't blockade the system, just protect it. Maybe a truce is treated like some sort of temporary peace treaty and their fleet is actually just protecting your system. Are you receiving any penalty from their presence? Do you have trade routes blocked? I'm not saying there's no bug, but it might not be as bad as it look.

I don't even remember writing this, and don't remember enough about the game to even know what i was talking about.

Its probably not a bug. A truce makes it so neither side can attack the other at all and borders are closed. It sounds like the ship can not leave because it has to go through your borders to do so. It should not be able to do any actual damage from a blockade. Do you have the option to demand the craver remove his ships? If you do it will automatically move his ships to the nearest system controled by him if he accepts.

Necro! Let's all get in on the conversation we had over a year ago and don't remember ;)

MrCompletely and Kornstalx, my question was directed at sergio.arauzo who complained the bug was still present (he posted 2 hours before me).

I should have quoted him in my first reply but i thought it would be obvious i was answering the latest post and not those from 1 year ago. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Sorry for necroposting, but I wanted to say that this bug still exists.
The only solution I found was to transform a behemoth into a citadel in the "blockaded" system. The ennemy fleet remains there, but the game considers that the system is no longer blockaded.

Necroing this, because this is the top google result about this bug, which still exists.

If the Cravers don't have off-lane travel, being stuck is not a bug; the enemy ship(s) has/have nowhere they can legally travel to, so they're stuck. Use the diplo action to force enemy ships to leave your borders. Not being able to attack them, however, IS a bug, and if they do have off-lane travel, that's also a problem.

You *should* notice that the ring around your system is the "guard" graphic (small boxes around the circumference), instead of blockade (spikes). If there's no spikes, it's not a blockade. Your system would also be cut off from the rest of your empire re: any special resources, and would show as blockaded in the Empire tab.

Notably, I almost never return to peace, after warring with Cravers *shrug* .

I saw specifically the spiked ring, and when I click into the system I get the "Blockaded" note on the left hand panel and all my production is lowered. I can't attack because we're in the post-war "Truce" period, and they shouldn't even be ABLE to blockade my systems, but they started pre-truce.

I'm pretty sure they have off-lane travel, and the "Leave my sphere of influence" action or whatever isn't available in the diplomacy menu.

Also, in my case I was playing the cravers, and they were blockading me.
