I colonized the system that had the Academy

The system was terrible, but I assumed there was some benefit for having the Academy under my control. I am not seeing any benefit.., and boy does that system suck. Is there any advantage to owning the Academy?

Don't you also get an XP boost to your heroes for owning the Academy?

If I remember correctly if you do not own the Academy you also have to research a technology first and then build something with the new knowledge that enables you to aquire new heros. So this is what you can avoid if you own the Academy.

Nope, discovering it is enough, the building just gives you a 20% discount, so they arrive earlier.

Ah ok, thank you for correcting me. And what if you do not discover the Acedemy? You are not able to get heros?

Indeed, new heroes only start appearing once someone (any player) discovered the system where the academy is. (I'm not sure if this applies to heroes form the marketplace as well, though.)

Yea, you get +5xp per turn on Heroes if you colonize the system. Not sure if this only applies to the governor of the system or is empire wide.

BulletMagnet, if it gives that (and I think both of us are not sure), that still is not worth how much that crappy system (the planet is destoyed) set me back as far as being on Outpost and counting as one of my systems. For me, I am not doing that again. PS - I checked everywhere and I do not see any sort of bonus of +5xp., I am not saying you are incorrect, but I could find anything that indicated that. There's an anomoly on the destroyed planet that gives hero XP if I recall correctly. Good luck getting to benefit though as it's destroyed and uncolonisable so the anomoly isn't useable. Not sure about after the academy quest, never got that far.

Looking through the xml it does look like it should correctly apply +5 exp per turn if you have colonized a planet in the system. Whether that applies empire wide or only to the governer is unclear. A quick look at an unassigned hero after 1 turn should make it clear. might have to pay close attention to the pixels for the hero exp tracker circle

Hi Psike, even if you are correct - the downside to having such a crud system.., that 5% is not worth it. Again, this is just me but unless they change owning the Academy to be something super useful, I am not doing that again.

My idea. Better colonize a more optimal system regarding the max systems before disapplroval.
