you can change galaxy presets as you like, shape, number of stars, density and complexity of galaxy, planet environment etc.

The galaxy size is certainly larger than ES1 was, but if you really wanted to, you can modify the WorldSettingDefinitions xml file to set your own number of systems.

According to the file, the max size, Gigantic, is set at 140 Systems. Each system is randomly set from 1 to either 5 or 6 planets, I don't remember exactly.

that kind of disapointing to hear. does each system feel big though? asume theres no throw away systems that having nothing of use in them. does each planet hold significanse maps that small

Its not like stellaris where most systems cant really be colonised, in endless space you can colonise every system with planets provided you have the right tech

i dont really expect it to be like stellaris. im just worried that it will be like the new masters of orion cos even the large maps felt tiny in that game

This is a biggest size galaxy, with system density set to high. Every dot is a star system. Hope this helps:

The size of the map is only really relevant when you consider the game's mechanics anyway..

Absolutely: I would be very, very afraid of the commitment playing on such a map would involve.

picked it up and went straight for the largest map. the large sense of scale is vital for me in space stratergy games.
