Found a fix for "Not responding after loading screen"

I've been unable to start the game for a while now but yesterday I figured out a fix for the issue where the game stops responding after the first loading screen, assuming you have already tried updating drivers, setting dedicated graphics etc. Typically the music still plays while this happens but you have a black or white screen.

Step 1;
Go to your Endless Space 2 folder in your Steam folder. You can get there by using the libary>properties>local files>browse local files. In there is a file called "Registry". Go in, change the graphics settings from Beautiful to Simple. Save it, make sure its not read only or anything like that.

Try the game now, it may work. If not, move to step 2.

Step 2;
This requires a copy of Endless Legend, as you need to borrow its config files as being unable to launch Endless Space 2 means you don't get the usual config files created. Start up Endless Legend and set everything to low/simple/off and so on in graphics. Make sure these settings are saved. Go to Endless Legend in your Documents, this is where active configs, saves and profiles and such are kept. Copy the "Users" folder. Go to your Endless Space 2 folder in documents, paste in the Users folder. Now try the game. For me, this worked.

I'm not responsible if this messes your game up (I can't see why it should as its just text files and if the game isn't starting in the first place its probably worth a try), I've not had any issues when playing it.

My understanding of the issue is that the game will try to launch in Beautiful mode as its first launch and this seems to just overload older, weaker graphics cards. I might very well be wrong about this but it is what I have gathered from poking around, so a simple fix should be for Amplitude to just change the launch default.

There are two registry files. The one in the game folder rather than document is very simplistic - Its most likely to determine the first launch settings, thats speculation however. If the game fails to launch, the game file registry file isn't generated. This is commonplace for most config files, you usually have to start the game for it to be created. Also please re-read the post. The things I did WORKED, I have a few hours in the game now. I tried all the various other things in all the other threads. I posted this to potentially help people who had the same issue and had the other options do nothing at all. Most likely, my setup is too outdated for the game, its old at this point. But at least its running and I'm enjoying it.

this is hardly a work around. you use the config file of another game for this game. for some reason endless space 2 is worked on the same architecture of endless legend, but im pretty sure you arnt supposed to do it.

all i see it does, is disable certain options that endless space 2 comes with, including directx11 support. you change all the options to basic. when a game isnt supported by your rig, it tends to not function properly. i challange you to play on the biggest map with the most amount of factions available, and get past 50 turns. im pretty sure your game would break before that happens :P

please read the minimum requirements next time before you buy a game.

I'm on turn 114 on the largest setting with max factions on endless time. I've had one crash which is a non-issue to due autosave and it was while I was tabbing out.
Stop being an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥; Its working more than not at all. I'm not complaining or ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about the game or Amplitude in the slightest, I'm offering help to others so they might be able to at least play it.
