Dawntrail could have been the addon to really change things up in terms of MSQ gameplay, new player accessibility, story presentation and overall gamedesign for quests and such... zone structure, increase the number of trials and zones for the first time, or just don't put solution 9 in the marketing to make the MSQ less predictable... but no.
Adding a post DT MSQ zone to the game would be something new and fresh... but no SE and CBU3 want to play it save and never try anything risky again...
Them not taking any risks is massively incorrect. Their switch to increase difficulty of dungeons and trials has been a risk towards the really casual playerbase. One that paid off thankfully but I believe they simply don't want to take too many risks in one go. Too much change will be overwhelming. I am hopeful they will make more big ones in the future but let's just see where it goes, eh?
I started playing yesterday and the game is fun but it really is inaccessible, nothing really is explained and you can easily miss blue quests that unlock important game features. You need to read all the speech in cutszenes and a lot of cutszenes just seem unnecassary. The MSQ so far has been a bother and you use all your gil to fast travel if you dont want to go by foot for 20min for each MSQ quest. The first dungeons are deserted and you either need to solo them or play with the npcs.
True, things are rarely explained properly and some of the cutscenes being unnecessary is mostly up to interpretation. Some of them serve as some light-hearted entertainment, show that there's a world outside of the constant dangerous threats, I'd say those are the most important ones as they remind the player of what there is to lose should the WoL fall. Gil is only really a trouble in the early game but that changes quickly towards the end of the ARR MSQ and onward. The first dungeons being deserted is just a natural progression for any MMO that can't be fixed regardless of how hard any of the devs try so let's not pin this specifically on SE. At least they were creative enough to come up with the Trust party to make progressing through MSQ dungeons a flash compared to the queue times as a DPS for random groups.
I will not deny however that the MSQ needs some changing for people who've played through it before as an account unlock, something that gives you more freedom to level in any way you wish from the start (Have travel, mounts basic dungeons and PotD unlocked on any new alt aswell as the Grand Company of your choice and glamouring. Really basic unlocks that anyone would have. Make MSQ optional for alts and only lock rewards to first-time completion. Completing MSQ multiple times might count for some sort of exclusive reward perhaps or just a fancy achievement title)
It's not impossible for them to make it more accessible but the problem would be revising the way their quest system works to begin with in a case such as my example. I don't believe they will change it either anytime soon but this is why input is necessary as SE has actually got a track record of listening to players, at least more than other big gaming companies like Blizzard.
All in all, the game's narrative and story telling is not bad but it is wildly different from other MMOs that some people need 3-4 chances to like it, my brother wasnt convinced to play this game until he saw me doing Ultima's Bane. For that alone he got himself a sub and he's enjoyed it ever since.
Yea by putting a male voice actor playing a female that is the definition of the woke movement I see what you mean.
Home planet? lol what?
Oh geez I thought he was talking about DOTA for some reason.
