Are u serious?? If i'd have your logic, I should buy more servers for people on my money or what? Their marketers need to be smart and predict situation like that ("People are leaving WoW and go to other good mmos, we need to make our servers larger"). Am I wrong?
What do you mean they should expect people leaving WOW every expansion, Shadowlands made a ton of people join FF14, literaly how do you expect a DLC for Wow make more people join FF14 than stay in WOW.
Either way, EVEN IF you were correct. AS WE AND SQUARE ENIX SAID NUMEROUS TIMES. They can't buy servers, EVEN TRIED TO PAY MORE. ACTUALLY READ THE POST BEFORE TALKING ABOUT THE TOPIC.
"Since July 2021, in order to accommodate the significant increase in the number of new players, we have been working towards building a new logical data center and adding new Worlds. However, due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have not been able to make any additions due to suspension of semiconductor production at manufacturing factories, decrease in production quantities, as well as a shortage of raw materials. Although we are investing much more money than usual, our attempts to alleviate the ongoing congestion situation are being delayed due to the physical shortage of server equipment."
This is a quote from the apology post YOU SHOULD HAVE READ BEFORE TALKING ABOUT IT, https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/news/detail/e7388986bc24d5a1337e0beed057f7b5b78b9bb3
Is this problem ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥? yes but as it's evidenced multiple times why this is happening, literaly 0 reason why Square Enix woudn't buy more servers AS THEY THEMSELFS SAID THEY SEE THE INCREASE IN PLAYERS, IN JULY, WAY BEFORE THE WOW EXODUS. WOW RELEASED SHADOWLANDS IN NOVEMBER. SO MANY MONTHS OF PREPARING SERVERS. This is the Covid world we living in, it's hard.
You think they hate money? i sure don't.
I'm actually hoping Blue Protocol ends up being good - it's been a while coming, but I have high hopes. Not everybody is going to be thrilled about a new MMO from Bandai Namco - I think that's mirrored by the mixed reviews of the closed beta - but they have given us some updates some months ago, and it has a ton of potential to be a fantastic MMO. Unfortunately, Bandai Namco are a company that it would be understated to say they're not the best at being transparent, so nobody knows much about what the heck is going on right now (the good news from that it also means Bandai Namco are taking things super super seriously to make sure they don't end up like other big MMOs lately that aren't FFXIV)
So yes, it very seriously is, they literally cannot get hold of that specific hardware configuration they need make the game run. Just because WoW managed a "smooth" launch, their servers are very likely different, and perhaps just in better supply right now, and also dealing with significantly smaller numbers of players than FFXIV which has unusually quickly become the most popular MMO in the world during a global pandemic with player counts far exceeding anything they've seen before.
pretty much what Cuddle said, though Servers today are more Plug N play, switch up parts but it's a game from 2014, im not sure on their server maintance.
Again, if Square Enix really could get those servers, they would. I REALLY doubt they would hate having revenue in the PEAK of the game's growth. Square Enix might be big, but Google, Amazon or other companies that NEED servers, are bigger. There is 0 reason Square Enix would want the sales to be restricted now. Why are you making conspiracy theories on why SE doesn't want money.
Also, today the producer been responding to questions, next week he's gonna announce the roadmap for sales and servers, so that's awesome.
