For new players it really doesn't matter and not to mention that you can always swap a server or do a "data center travel"
The reason I say this cause over there you have a chance to play the game for free until you reach level 70(with some limitations of course)
That way, you can take your time and determine whatever it's worth buying the latest expansions/sub or not.
I will still recommend the non-steam version sicne it's another layer of connection required. If you can't connect to Steam for whatever reason you can't play the game even if the game's server are live.
I checked the Steam store to make sure and yes, you're right about that. The only difference is you get a 30 day free trial when at the official site, it's free until you reach level 70.
I suppose 30 days is enough to determine whether OP likes it or not, but if you're not rushing to reach a certain level, the one I mentioned above seems to be a better deal. I could very much be wrong though.
Not sure what you're on about https://store.steampowered.com/app/312060/FINAL_FANTASY_XIV_Online_Free_Trial/
This is the same exact trial.
From the store page
I realized my mistake. What I mentioned was the info I read from XIV on Steam. I didn't bother to click the info involving the XIV free trial version which states exactly what you said there.
Thank you for correcting me. For that, gonna give you points for being patient/civil and such.
It's been said ad nauseam: it takes a while to get good. You're gonna spend a few days doing fetch quests with 2 skills, and that's okay.
I've been playing off-and-on for more than 2000 hours over 6 years and I still haven't hit endgame for any expansion as it's main content. You'll never find a lack of anything to do, don't rush the story, enjoy the ride.
You mean their Steam profiles?
A lot of people keep their profiles private or for Friends only. I assume it's mostly those that frequent different community forums, talk stupid ♥♥♥♥ and troll and don't wanna be personally harassed on their profile or to have people scrutinize them closer. You know.. taking solace in your anonymity - one of the greatest failures of the internet age.
Speaking for myself, my profile is semi-public. The only things being private are my friends list, the amount of time spent on the games I own, and the option to prevent anyone from commenting on my page.
None of the games I own had reached the 1k mark(the only game close to that was ESO with 800+ hours) There are at least two games I regret buying, but other than that, I consider myself a casual gamer who is recently participating in the forums and sharing experiences/opinions/help with other like-minded folk.
