In the case of FFXIV the game is old, comes from a previous era of gaming in general, and its early expansions really shows that.
Especially once you get to the slog - the in-between quests after ARR MSQ that lead up to the second expansions.
If youre having fun doing the side quests though, more power to you! Theres a metric fragton of side quests to do, some of them even have decent rewards. They generally characterize the area youre in or even give breath t othe characters you interact with. Keep an eye out for more yellow quests as you progress through the MSQ - some areas get new quests multiple times, sometimes even the same NPC continues their own mini-plotline.
Remember to always do your blue quests, though. They almost always unlock something; A duty, a job, a game mechanic, or just a thing to do.
Fake account.
Its not saying ARR is bad, just that it gets better later, which is true and not really a surprise since with time devs improve on some aspects of the game, the lore included. I'm not sure how it is right now since they remade the main scenario but before that it was a slog to get through, had some friends stop playing because of that, too many quests to get to the "point" of the story. With other expansions they started adding more animations to cinematics, voicing, etc, I really don't think its much of a stretch to say it gets better later, nor that its cope.
They get DDoS'd a lot. Almost weekly.
There really isn't better security when it comes to DDoS.
