FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

So the "Standard Edition" is not forever?
I bought the standard edition for 20 dollars and not my account is inactive. So, that means I cannot play anymore because the time ran out? If that's the case I would have never bought the game. I was hoping I could play the game in a limited manner, but it's flat out rejecting me from joining the game.

Sir, this is a subscription-based MMO.
If you played the "free trial" without paying for anything, you can play in a limited manner up to the end of Stormblood. As soon as you put money into the game you need to continue to pay a sub.

The standard edition comes with 30 days subscription, that's why you were able to play initially.

As Paissa says, once you buy, your account is ineligible for the free trial. To play for free, you need to remain on the free trial, which includes up through Stormblood.

Unfortunately, if you want to play the trial now, you'll have to start a whole new account (off of Steam, to avoid a whole lot of hoop jumping).

FFXIV is just like WoW and others. a subscription based MMO and if you subbed but didn't play then your game time will keep on going down regardless.

Next time I suggest trying the Free Trial first to see if you liked the game before subbing and running into this.

I think this is a flaw they should try to fix.

It's rather awkward that paying money can lock you out of playing. I feel if a newer player is doing the free trial but buys the Starter Edition, you should be able to continue the free section of the game with the perks like having access to basic comms and the market. But if they start expansion content, they'll be prompted that doing so ends their free trial and starts the 30-days they paid for and will have to pay subscription.

Sure, it's pushing the wheel down the road a bit, but most don't understand that they're losing almost as much as they're gaining by buying into the game lol. Or maybe that's why they don't say anything...
