Unable to Retrieve Steam Account Information

Try turning off your Anti-Virus and boot up the game. Once the game gets to the Login and you get into the game. You can turn back on your Anti-Virus. For whatever reason, Anti-Virus Protection false IDs the files and blocks the connection. As the protection thinks it is a virus. Seems to my work around with a lot of patchers and not just FF14.

I tried to change my Email address with Square Enix for this game and I forgot the exact security question that I used. It's been years since I logged in anyway. Three questions, got them all wrong even though I answered them correctly, no dice.

I researched what to do to solve the problem so I could access my character, and Square Enix support wants me to send them a copy of my birth certificate, a picture I.D. and my Social Security card along with a 'request' to change my email address and update my security question.

I deleted my account, I'm done with this Japanese company.

With ArenaNet all I had to do was give them a few names of 5 of my characters (I think it was 2 names), in an email with a request with the new email address.

That's it, all done.

IF you can log into the account why does it have to be so draconian just to update your email address?

Square Enix is a weird company. They treat people in every country that plays their games as if they lived in Japan and are therefore bound by Japanese rules. Which you most certainly are if this happens to you too.

I didn't even have a subscription with them when I tried to do this so they had none of my financials on record, nothing current.

better yet u getting charged here thru steam and thru mog station for subs . Steam is holding my account until i pay them also paid mog station 14.99 now steam wants their 14.99 also for it this month

so after reading the contract with VALVE and STEAM taking control of any subs u have r with in their legal rights and have no choice but to pay them or no game or buy from different platform but so sad to bad cant take the account u have that u have been paying for thru mog station for months now and they want to interup game play with their dumb com,ercials and force u to look at them or they will continually dump u out of anything ur in to make u look at their products ... next person tells me to grow up about this until u pay for my account STFU

i dont understand what you ranting about tho.

for example: steam has every week between tuesday and wednessday their community service maintenance. depending on which region you are hits it you in the morning or evening.

it usually does not take longer then 5 minutes.
if you manage to catch that maintenance window ... well, congrats ... or not ... if you are upset about it.

so, unless steam goes for other reasons down, can you not login into FF14 for atleast 5 minutes every week if you have a steam account o..o.
if you cant wait 5 minutes to play a game should you seek help '-'.

i can understand if it goes for longer on then 30 minutes because then can it be really disruptive depending on time. but other then that is it expected to be not able to login for about 5 minutes every week. this hits other launchers aswell (such as warframe or the rockstar launcher since they aswell verify ownership and login token via steam).

is this a bad thing? maybe ... if you cant wait 1~5 minutes ... XD.

i'm not absolutely sure, and this prolly isnt as viable anymore as the issue likely resolved by now, but issues like this usually happens when steam has some sort of connectivity issues, so it cant call out to give the ff client the steam info to verify your account, usually resolves pretty quick
