Mount Speed is as fast as my run speed?

Returning to the game for Dawntrail and my friends and I are all at the same point in Endwalker right now. My mount speed is the same speed as my regular run speed, which defeats the point of the mount. I tried hitting the Num* button thinking maybe the walk/run was messed up but that wasn't it at all. My friend is able to outspeed both myself and another friend's mounts at the same area too. Unsure what this is about. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix?

If you're in the new Dawntrail zones you need to unlock higher mount speed again by beating 6 FATEs in every Zone and buy the Riding Map.

Base mount speed is barely faster than walking.

We're still in Endwalker. Me and my two friends are at the same point in the story but one of them outspeeds me and my other friend on their mount. I even did a test with my friend where he raced me on foot while I was on my mount and he overtook me without sprint in a straight line. I think there's somethin' bugged with his and my mount speed.

Endwalker has the same mechanics. Did you do the Fates in the zone and buy the Map?

We did not, no. If thats the case then alright but I swear I don't remember my mount speed being somewhat slower than my running speed. Maybe it'll fix the next time I hop on as I've logged out for the night.

Maybe its just the mount you were on at the time, I know some of the bigger mounts I have make the speed seem really slow due to their animation.

Spending time to unlock mount speed is useless, just do the msq and then get aether currents to unlock flying. Flying speed is not affected by those speed boosts.

There is an exception where one mount from the store has the speed boosts by default, a motorcycle. Arguably the only p2w item on the store lol.

It sounds like you turned walk on instead of run and/or are stuck in walk, I've seen it happen. Is NUM the toggle for that?; check your keybinds. Once you know the keybind for sure, turn walk on, then turn it back off. That should resolve your issue.

or your fast friend is punking you by using a motorbike and/or already having their mount speed up lol
