About to buy expansion

I'am closing in on level 60 and since i bought the main game + first expansion when it came out i'am not on a trail account. Will this expansion soon be sold on steam with a discount? or should i just by it now for full price?

My advice is don't be cheap and just buy it. Your first license purchase will include a free 30 days of sub. And if you grab Shadowbringer, you'll get Stormblood as well.

has nothing to do with beeing cheap some people just value thier money more than others. its not new anymore by now. its old 2 years soon. also if you read his post he is not on a trial account so he already has bought and registered the keys. thus he already had 30 days free. we wont get that again when he buys SB.

for the tc :

yes it has been on 50% off sale multiple times by now. last was around christmas/new year for steam version.

its definitly gonna be on sale during summer sale again or maybe even before.

keep this in mind : once the next thing endwalker releases in october this year you would gain the current one for free when you buy it for the SAME price as now.
so unless you are really impatient i would wait and get endwalker later to get everything at once instead of paying twice the full price in 6 months plus the subfees.

usually the mogstation sales, and the steam sales take turns. Right now it's on sale on the mogstation, so until that goes away and a buffer hits, it wont be on sale. Like stated, probably in summer, a bit before the launch of the new expansion.

Personally, if you're enjoying the game, and have the funds for it, pick it up and continue enjoying shadowbringer content when you get to it 6 months prior to the next expansion. I did, but it was within my budget, and I wanted it now. Otherwise, FFXIV is one of the best lowkey casual backburner mmos. So no harm in putting it aside for a few months or leveling other classes/doing other content(theres a LOT) before you decide to pick up SB or EW later.

It seems it has been discounted in past Steam seasonal sales. If you are willing to wait to save some money, you could try to see whether Steam will have a Spring sale this year, otherwise Summer is the likely time.

I just checked my email. They usually do a massive 50% discount on the latest expansion pack August 16. Been that way for 3 years in a row. They do 80% discounts on a few items in late november, and 50-70% discounts on select items on the mog station at christmas. But expansion pack sales are Mid August.

Not gonna tell you what to do but since i'm about in the same situation as you i figured i would share with you my findings.

So i just checked "is there any deal" website history for Shadowbringers and it seems like they did a discount last year from March 30th to April 6th. I'm gonna wait a bit and see if they repeat it again. Buying full price for an expansion that is 2 years old is hard to swallow especially with a new expansion coming in a few months.

Just my 2cents. 🤷‍♂️
