How do I keep up with the better armor??
I'm a lvl 28 GLA rn and my average armor lvl is 18, how do I get higher level stuff? Do I just buy it or are there special quests I can do?

For the most part, you will be getting your gear from dungeons until you hit 45. If you can roll "Need" on something, and it's higher level than what you have, do so, because it is suited for your current class. Once you hit 32 and can run Brayflox's Longstop, try to farm up the gear set for your role (For tanks, you want the Cavalry set). That stuff will last you until you get your level 45 AF gear.

Edit: What i did for gear when leveling was to farm the green sets from the first 3 dungeons, then use that stuff until something better dropped in one of the later dungeons, then repeat that for Brayflox. As long as you are keeping somewhat up to date with ilvl, you should be fine.

You can easily buy ilvl 25 armor from vendors right now. After that, do dungeons to get better quality or purchase HQ gear off the AH (which is comprable / better than dungeon drops).

Quest reward gear is enough up to 50.

And item level will be lower than your level until you get to 50. after that your item level will be bigger.

The mainquest gives you whole armor sets from time to time.

If your ilvl is within 3-5 points of your current level while leveling, you're doin it right. If it's way lower, go to a vendor and get minimal gear.

If you're behind on questing, sometimes it's a good idea just to make your work easier.

if all the above doesn't work go to your level areas and look for a vendor that sells armor in one of the towns near a big aethernyte they help greatly for those who first start out and they're way cheaper then marketed ones
depends on the item, a lot of people leveling up crafting or selling retainer explorer finds might sell high quality grade for cheap.

Buy new gear from vendors, or HQ gear (which is better than the stuff you get from vendors and quests, but a lot more expensive most of the time) from the market board, or if you're in an FC, or have friends, you could ask them to craft you new gear. I do that all the time for my FC buddies.
