pre-paid game time cards and steam version of FF:AR

fair warning, if you launch up the game launcher trough steam and go to mogstation trough "my account" on that launcher, before even entering the page it seems to get flagged with "is steam", meaning that they allow steam vallet as payment model, but not pre-paid cards. To avoid this, clear cookies on the browser if you ever used to log-in that way that I just described and go to mogstation manually, or use a different browser. Then the ability to use a pre-paid card appears.

It's really weird if you ask me, but took me like 2 good hours to figure out yesterday. Just warning anyone else that will be choosing pre-paid cards as their sub method :)

Odd, others have said you can use pre-paid via steam. Also this doesn't happen when I do it, though my account is retail / legacy so that might be a reason.

I only ever get into mog station via my web browser the only reason I open steam is to open the game it self and I have used pre paid cards so yeah.

Kinda. The actual problem is that your browser had cached the page when it shouldn't have. So it never displayed the 'game time card' button until you flushed the browser cache and forced it to refresh the page.

Yeah and good luck finding this kind of problem with other games... Time to fire those JS people, SE... really. F2P companies do this better.

Also you CAN use game time card / pre-paid cards with a Steam account.

You don't need to run Steam to launch the game. Run the launcher directly at "\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\boot", the file you want is ffxivboot.exe
