demo asking for cd key?

have just d/l the demo, so i have setup my square enix account and now it is asking for a 20 key alphanumeric product key? [this is not the key to setup your account through email] funny thing is a friend of mine has done the same but it did not ask for a product key.

I have looked in the library under the game to see if there is a cd key with it, there is not, anyone else getting this?

Right click on the game. Go to CD Key on the little thing that pops up.

i have found a way round it, if this happens just shutdown the installer, leave for a few minutes, relaunch the game and then log into your square enix account at the prompt, after that it should give you a splash screen about the trial, follow prompts to d/l and play the trial.

You cant play trial on an existing SE account you have to make one from scrach using the demo launcher.

Oh dear me.
I meant on the above post to sign into the account you have just created when you got the cd key prompt, then close software down, re open the installer sign into the account that you have created not more than 10 minutes ago, and carry on, i am sorry i didn`t think i had to explain this in really simple terms to be understood. thats the second reply to this which has not read my posts PROPERLY first.

Again idiot being the word! Listen if you cant understand how to make an account to a demo! Then dont bother. Call us people idiots that have easly registered and enjoy the game good luck making it past lvl 1.

I didn`t have any problem setting up the account, you see not reading the posts does this..! The original problem was the cd key splash screen, which I have now found a workaround for so all solved and all happy,???

You can. I downloaded the trial client through Steam and have been logging in and playing on my retail account since before Christmas. It's more convenient I find.

you saved me man!! I was asked for the activation key when installing the free trial, but closing and reopening did make it work.
I just wish I didn't take 15 min to find your post over the others...
