So naturally I had to cancel my Heavensward pre-order with SE as soon as I found out. I hope SE will sort out these ridiculous barriers that they have created. Not being able to buy a physical version of an expansion is rather frustrating, as well as the poor customer service in regards to even the pre-orders.
Who exactly do you think you're scaring into anything with this behavior? Your post is tropic with the other 30 some odd posts of this exact nature. So I'll save us all the same conversation present in 15 other threads on the front page:
- They said May, not a specific date. They're quite technically on time even if they did it on the last day of this month. The store page has been up for all of a few days. Give them time to get the preorder set up.
Preorders, btw, are set up by Valve, not the publisher. You'd probably get more accomplished addressing Valve since SE literally can't do jack about this.
- Preorders are not any more or less preordered if you preorder 3 months ahead of time or a day ahead of time. Cool your jets, you're not missing out on anything.
- There's no poor customer service in regards to the preorders, please stop this tired line. Poor customer service would be intentional misleading or a lack of response on the subject. We were told what would happen, we've been told the preorders will happen. Them not responding to every person too lazy to read announcements isn't bad customer service. Stop it.
- They have already stated that the preorders will be up before the early access starts. The game is also keyed for Steam Early access so we know this isn't BS. Again, if you preordered the day the early access started it would be no different and no loss of benefit to you than if you ordered right now.
A service provider should not dictate how a consumer should feel and act, they are better off responding to customer needs and addressing them.
Also, since you're too busy being right to even read a link given to you proving that you're just full of hot air, I'll quote the customer service reply about the situation you claim people are confused about due to a supposed lack of response:
"No, that's not the case. That June 23 date is listing the time that the game is set to launch, not that there are no pre-orders available.
As others have pointed out, the pre-order bonuses are listed in the "Read More" section of the page. We are still planning to have the Steam version available for pre-order, as we have been saying."
Kthanks.
"Too busy being right"? You refer here to what particular part of my post? The part defining customer service addressing concerns?
I assume you refer to the part about the game being unlocked on the 23rd. I said it has left people confused. That is still clearly the case, given the degree of activity across various forums. I agree, this is addressed in the reply, but clearly people are still confused, perhaps suggesting further action to respond to these concerns could be warranted. This affects the Steam brand, it would be clever business to mitigate it. A lot of people are being advised by Steam users not to purchase via steam, which equates to revenue loss.
Within the post, I make a suggestion for how these concerns could be addressed. People just want a solid date. I make the suggestion they could/can have said/say the 31st of May, thereby addressing these concerns.
I think you framed my post via your own filters and read into it what you wanted to see.
Kthanks for your patronizing response.
This content requires the base game FINAL FANTASY® XIV: A Realm Reborn™ on Steam in order to play.
Available: June 23
This game will unlock in approximately 1 month, 4 days and 22 hours
This is why everyone is upset. There is no pre-order in our preorder. Some people like to save up for it and buy it on a certain date, some like to buy it way early so they can hop on the game as soon as it launches, some vets to online mmo's know that when it releases 9/10 something will mess up and we will be stiffed right up the booty.(there is no information other than this to go off of)
Than you see this.

It's only one week tell June SE! People have the right to be angry/mad/sad/excited/confused or whatever else humans feel/think or express. Everyone deals with things in there own way, shape or form. Personally I am checking the community hub everyday and it is exhausting seeing an add-on that's been being talked about for 6+ months? and there is only like 2-3 updates about it from official SE people on steam. It's going to be very easy to miss a preorder bonus for steam folks considering we get like 1 week before it comes out to buy the pre-order version.
This is where I got all the information linked above if interested
http://store.steampowered.com/app/359480/
Fact is we will be able to pre-order so no one is missing out on anything and shouldn't be complaining.
If the page says the pre-order incentives than anyone with two brain cells to run together should be able to muster the common sense needed to figure that if they tell us the bonuses, we'll be able to pre-order eventually.
People don't need to buy "way early" to hop straight in. They just need to order before the 19th. I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure that's far off. Therefore they have nothing to complain about at this current point in time.
Complaining to SE is utterly and entirely useless. It's a waste of time and energy. Valve is the company here that determines when a preorder comes up on Steam. Not SE. You can complain to SE till you're blue in the face and you're utterly wasting the oxygen. No publisher on Steam has control over preorder releases. Valve controls that. Please stop acting like it's otherwise. Please stop ignoring this fact that I've repeated several times in this thread already.
They have stated that the preorder will be up before early access begins. Acting like they're shoving a red hot poker up your rear ends will not in fact change anything. It'll be up when it's up. There's no difference preordering it 4 months ago than there is one week from release. And no, it's not that easy to miss since if you're going to be USING THE BENEFIT OF PREORDERING you're KINDA GOING TO TO HAVE TO COME TO STEAM TO DO SO ANYWAY.
The argument is that there's no indication of a preorder on the Heavensward page.
Here's the problem with that:
I can quote you on it. The indication is there. The official customer service answer to this has not changed, and just like shooting bullets at superman, throwing the guns at him still won't change anything. Preorders will become available sometime this month and they will happen before the early access starts. Every freaking new title has a release date listed. That isn't a false flag, that's you choosing ignorance for a reason to have a complaint.
That's it.
There's nothing else to claim or complain about. If you accept that, there's nothing else to say.
So just cut it out.
Half the hate for this issue is that the site says, pre order, and then doesn't let you give them money... I was like, ok so how do I pre order? where do I shove these bills and or credit card numbers..
And if Square Soft is handing out the ID's then why aren't we just buying their pre order? I mean it's the same right? Nope, not the same.
It's more or less a giant loop to wast our time and try to force us to buy two or three copy's of the game before we realize we got the wrong one for our account. or paid 50 dollars more for a plastic statue of a dragon... wait we can't even get a virtual plastic statue from steam...
ps: release dates
Early start: Jun 19th
Available: June 23rd
Release: June 23rd
Atm it is May 21st that leaves 19+10 days till Early start... and 10 days til the last day of May.
Now me I'd be tagging the **** out of it with "Shut Up and Take My Money" which is the tag I put on it... if enough people put the tag on we will at least force a fun user defined tag for the product...
SE can do nothing about this. So no matter what you do, it won't change anything. Valve sets up preorders.
Most pages with preorders do this. However, for some reason people seem extremely uppity about this game in particular not getting the option up fast enough.
SquareSoft went out of business over a decade ago. Square-Enix.
1. The statue isn't plastic.
2. The 50 bucks is for a Statue, Art Book, BluRay and of course, the packaging itself.
3. No one's forcing you to do anything, and every effort is being made to tell people they can only get the Steam version. Go to any other store selling the game, they tend to specifically warn about the Steam issue.
What's your point here besides pointing out they're still on time with their promise? Also your available thing is misleading, they've said a hundred times, and people here have said a thousand times, that it's going to be sometime this month. Pull the branch out of your rear end and realize it's still May. They're not late. They're technically not "late" until June 18th.
But then again, we're on the Steam forums, if it's between logic and whining, many people will ignore the former to indulge in the latter.
Why are you wasting so much energy with your posts? I've literally read this entire thread and am baffled as to why you are doing it. Fact is, people are upset that they are having to wait this long to get their pre-order in. It doesn't matter that it is still before early access. People just don't like to wait.
It's like you have nothing better to do then to fight. For what? Take a deep breath, this isn't your fight.
And I'm sick and tired of it flooding the discussion forum. It's obvious it's going to take a while, there's no need for 50 freaking threads all complaining about the same thing all ignoring every reason that's been given. It's a cry for attention that bugs the hell out of me because I've seen this same stupid thing for so many games.
My community. Which is constantly being invaded by people who can't even do the courtesy of reading announcements.
