What did they do differently? Did you check your intrenet protection. I always check that 1st.
First, no one owes you a thing. You weren't sent a broken game. You weren't sent an invalid code. There are no refunds on Steam and frankly, I don't think either party really cares enough to register your complaint in the community discussion forum. The fans however, the people who are trying to, do care. So please stop the rudeness and calm yourself before continuing.
You need to stop insisting you have a problem and start actually listening to the solutions. I know you're not actually listening because 90% of your responses are contradictions to everything people have been telling you.
First, please rethink your steps.
After you purchased THIS GAME. What did you do? Did you just install and try to log in? Have you been on MogStation? Can you even log into MogStation?

If you have not been there yet, or can't log in, 10 to 1 you haven't actually registered the game yet.
Second, if you have a valid MogStation login:
1. Log In, this requires your SE Account Username (If you played FFXI, it's also your PlayOnline ID) and your password. You do not need to enter a One-Time Password if you have never registered a token or the token app.
2. Click "Your Account"
3. If you have an account that's registered, it will be listed here. (At this point the problem is you're entering in the password wrong in the login screen and should really check capslock and stuff.)
4. If you haven't been able to get to this step, you don't have a registered FFXIV account.
In this case you need to go to Square-Enix Accounts, register an account (I don't care if you have one for FF7, if it's not working it's not working. Let's move beyond that.)

Register your account.
Register the key.
You'll be in business.
BTW, for the 80th time, you don't need money to get a token. If your friend "helped you" login, and it worked, they either got you a token or sorted it out for you. Get the token from them. Or get them to log you into MogStation so you can get an app downloaded and your problem sorted.
Also if you didn't get a confirmation e-mail you put in the wrong e-mail address. That's your bad. You need to contact SE Customer Support with your game key and get that sorted out.
