FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

Saying my cd key is already registered.
I bought ff14 awhile back, and now I'm trying to resubscribe, but it's saying my cd key is already in use... And it's only ever been installed on this steam account. It seems like doing anything with Square Enix is incredibly difficult.

Yep, there is only one email that this could all be linked to, and It's saying my cd key is in use. I'm not paying for a game I've already bought again.

Forget the CD-key already. You want the account that the CD-key was used on.

Again, this is not like some games where the CD-key is the game's ID.

Look, if you were say a Microsoft 365 customer. You made a Microsoft account "Xpell@Outlook.com". Now you buy Office 2014 and get emailed a 'cd-key' / product ID key. You log in as "Xpell@Outlook.com" and apply that PID / 'cd-key' so you can install the app.

From now on, that cd-key belongs to that "Xpell@Outlook.com". When M$ wants to do their DRM, they check to see if you're logged in as "Xpell@Outlook.com"

-----

You want to recover the account. Nevermind the cd-key.

All Steam has on their system is that you bought the game, price paid for it and the now useless cd-key. If you had bought a subscription via the Steam Wallet, they'll even have the SE ID that you bought the sub for, but that's all they should have.

SE has your SE account and the fact the above key is linked to it.

What you need is the SE account ID / password so you can access that SE account.

Have you gone here?

https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app/svc/reminder

Input the email address that you believe every thing's linked to. You should get the ID + reset link via email.

Yep that account works. But it has no ff14 linked to it. mog station wont let me make a new registration either. I dont think mog station was even a thing when I bought the game.

If you still cannot get online I would contact SE support. Pretty sure they could help you get back ingame.

I had the same or a similar issue. I had to log in to my account on mogstation and "activate service account." Then when I ran the launcher and logged in with my SE account, it recognize that the game was registered. If the account is not active then it will not recognized the game as being registered, whether it is or not. Also, after that you have to have game time or it won't let you download. SE is like a drug dealer, they wanna see that money upfront before they show you the goods.

Hope this helps.

I ended up having to do a lot more than that. I had to send them a bunch of pictures for proof. So lame, but I'm playing now.

I know this article is old, but I'm having the same problem. I think someone hacked my Steam account, (probably before I set up Steam Guard on Steam), and used my FFXIV activation code on their account. I apparently made my account in 2014, but I do not remember activating an activation code on the website or on Steam 'cause I remember that the game wouldn't download for me, so I gave up. Admittedly, I do have a bad memory and could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain that I did not use the activation code on an account, nor have I ever logged into the website, or linked my account to my PS4 account.

So my main question is, would I have to buy the game elsewhere and where do I go for buying it?

PS: My SE account was made in 2014, but it says something about being linked to my PS4 account and that the account hasn't been active since 2014, which can't be possible, since I got my PS4 in 2017.

Anyway, if someone could point me to where I'd buy this game, it'd be much appreciated. ^^

I don't think you can link it to steam anymore but you can buy a non steam version almost anywhere ^^ the steam launcher will still work to login on a non steam account in case you want to do that

sites:

I recommend buying a complete edition to get the expansions with it, though you'd also have plenty of stuff to do as a new player if you decide to go with a starter pack

I have this problem as well with a non steam downloaded or bought version. I got it the day ARR came out from square and am on the legacy server. I was gonna fool around on the game a bit to see whats changed. I bought a sub, went to log in user/pass and got please enter your cdkey.

Hi. this is not the same problem as a used key.
There is no souch "CD Key". The only errormessage possible is "No active service account found".
Do not use this ancient CD or so. Use the version for your key version(steam or PC download , ps4, Xbox, MAC whatever).
