Bonus for logging out using inn bed?
I'm just curious, is there any kind of bonus for logging out in an inn bed as opposed to anywhere else the rested bonus applies? Otherwise it doesn't seem like there's any point in having that whole bed cinematic.

...Well, actually, I like to do it, it gives me a sense of closure after playing for a long time. But does it have any practical benefit versus logging out anywhere else in the city, or any other resting area?

It used to be that only the inn bed gave you the rest bonus, but they changed it so any sanctuary would work.

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks!

Yea, if you're into roleplaying it's good, but otherwise it offers no other benefit than logging out in a sanctuary.

Let' me spin ya'll a tale of the old days...

back in 1.0 if you logged out by sleeping in the inn bed, when you logged back in - you MIGHT have been treated to a special "dream sequence" cutscene. Sometimes you'd also find random objects under your pillow related to the dream. Usually it was food.

However, at the very end of 1.0, when the servers were no longer saving progress (this lasted for a few weeks) - you woke up to find a RELIC weapon.

This allowed everyone to have a relic during those last few days when mobs were invading the cities. Of course, since this was after the cut-off date for progress. People with Pillow Relics did not get to carry them over to A Realm Reborn.

I completely forgot about those, WOW.

I think the only special item I have from 1.0 is a cookie from Mododi I believe. That and silly glams like the first eggs and the Paragon Crown (i think it is called).

Thanks for the blast to the past!

Honestly, they didn't need to do away with it entirely to give the bonus to all rest areas.

They could have made 2 (or 3) tiers of the resting effect, each accumulating rested bonus faster than the other, one tier for just being in a rest area, another higher one for sleeping on a bed, and perhaps an intermediary one for camping, which would require camping equipment and supplies, but could be done even in the field.

This last one could even allow for a sort of "outlaw" playstyle without too much loss, though the outlaw playstyle might require NPC caravans as well, especially as a source of supplies.

Damn, I wish I could pitch a concept and direct some ideas to an MMO developer. I have so many ideas that might be niche but could get integrated together to attend multiple gamer niches!

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
