Answer: Any class available in the base game, Heavensward and Stormblood you can play and max out. Everything is free to you with the exception of FC joining/creation and things like that.
2. About the DLC. Do I only need to buy the latest DLC to unlock everything in this game?
Answer: If you buy Dawntrail, you get Shadowbringers and Endwalker with it--which are incredible expansions. Base game + Dawntrail will get you everything. You MUST buy the base game after you decide to be done with the trial.
3. Does it matter what server I join? "EU"
Not necessarily. You can travel across servers (just not data centers).
4. I enjoy playing a knight like hero so I went with a tank. I did not unlock my first dungeon yet but I was wondering if tanks are needed or dps is the most important thing.
Answer: Tanks and Healers are extremely important, yes! We have way too many DPS players. We tanks sure would like some more friends. ;)
5. Most important question.... Is this game worth the time/money I would like to hear the answer from the players that have played and enjoyed this game the reason I'm asking this is because of all the negative reviews I see on the latest DLC.
Answer: Dawntrail has been disappointing to say the least, but I had 4k hours on the game before Dawntrail (bought on Steam so that's another 1k). Some of the best storytelling I've seen in an RPG in a long time has been in FFXIV. Heavensward won numerous awards for its storytelling, and Endwalker and Shadowbringers is A tier.
I say yes. This game is VERY much worth the time and effort. It's actually incredible only 1 expansion out of 5 was "bad".
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions. This is all I needed to know. I hope you have a wonderful day!
1. Free Trial Cap is 70, full game, base and expansion is 100, not 70.
2. You need a monthly subscription of $15 a month or local equivalent to keep playing after you buy the DLC. Also not all the content is in the game, a bunch of content is tied to a cash shop.
3. DC regions connections are ok, but some jobs are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over by bad ping e.g. Machinist, play on the one nearest to you, unless you are in Australia, because that DC is dead.
4. Do Hall of the Novice for class basics.
5. The game is a very story driven s RPG until you hit endgame. The Free Trial is the way to go, but that story alone in that is hundreds of hours and the content is only halfway.
i played the game for 1000s of hours, it is a very good MMO, but the free trial is marred by the lack of certain features (PvP, Ultimate Raid) and some soclal options you need in certain areas (Eureka which is part of the trial).
The story should be skippable in my opinion, & the animations are ass (in places worse than SFM level). Also stay away from anything to do with RP.

Depends
This game is the definition of ‘theme park MMO’. Invisible walls, hose-like tunnels through the dungeons and “raids” and the bosses are just a box arena you teleport to via menu. You can’t even jump into most bodies of water or down cliffs. Character customization and room for individuality is nonexistent. Everything you can and can’t do is laid out for you. Jobs (classes) have a very rigid playstyle and leave no room for your personal style. There is only ever ‘one logical thing’ to press.
Open world doesn’t exist, PvP doesn’t exist. Player interaction is entirely optional and only needed for the last 0.5% of content the game offers. Simply put, player interaction doesn’t really exist, unless you go out of your way to specifically look for it. If WoW is: “hi bye k” then this is: “…”.
Ultimately it depends on what you’re looking for. The soundtrack is superb (wouldn’t really expect anything less from Square would you?), the presentation is good, but do not expect sandbox elements.
Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.
I'm starting to think that might be the right choice.... In the past few days at least 4 people + you told me to go for NA and just skip EU not sure for the reason still tho. Can you please tell me more.
Not sure why people are telling ya to do this. I play on EU the whole (a lot on both Chaos and Light) and rarely had any bad experience.
If you are in the EU and you are thinking of playing on NA just think of the timezones.
