Game won't launch

Title mostly. i tried reinstalling it, and nothing. it downloads some stuff, opens a black screen and closes it

gotta get rid of the stupid first. yes, it can, i played it 2 years ago, but i did a complete uninstall of it, deleted everything for space. now i'm reinstalling it via the launcher, but i'm not confident tbh

Have you checked it against the minimum requirements lately? They raised them with the graphics update in Dawntrail.

If that's not the issue, are you seeing any errors or anything before the box closes?

I don't have any go to fix for this one, unfortunately. If you can capture an error message or look in event viewer in Windows for the crash reason, it would help a lot.

Minimum system requirement was changed back in July.

dunno if it's just that, but i no longer fit the minimum, since i got a gtx 660

Yeah... you need a newer GPU as GTX 660 is missing some newer DX11 functions that the game relies on

Yeah, these days you need a gpu that supports dx12 at the minimum.

Start FF14 and log in then before clicking play turn off steam with the task manager.
Then start steam again
Start ff launcher and turn that launcher off to make steam to say you are playing the game


I got the same issue but my 7900GLE runs ff without issues if i use my non steam account.
I upgraded from a 1080ti and was never an issue. Even my laptop with 4060 can start ff without black screen.

This is annoying to do every start up but I’m used to it. Google around and u see it’s not uncommon. It’s something with ff and steam.
