same problem here on steam deck, been playing completely fine until todays update
Same problem tried several solutions such as uninstall and reinstall, change setting and such. nothing has worked.
I'm just hoping the problem resolves itself. I don't know if it's a linux issue, proton issue, launcher issue, steam issue or all of the above... Contacted customer support but that will be a while for a response.

I get no error codes so this type of error gives me no information to work with. Might try to reformat and reinstall if it doesn't fix itself later today.
same here, seems like a linux problem though, not specific to steam deck, restored and reinstalled did not fix it.
Chiming in with the same issue. Following last night's update I get the platform error on my steam deck. I hope they fix it because the steam deck is basically my main way to play and I was excited for the new Occult Crescent. :(
Ah the joys of gaming on linux. Guess I'll wait it out and hopefully things will be working later.
I have the same problem, playing under Linux. I have tried it with different Proton versions and also with Wine without success. Without an error code there is no real hint which makes it difficult to find a solution.
My friends with Windows can play, so it will (again) be related to playing with Linux.
Using "alternative" launchers seem to work. So that's a temporary workaround (though not really permitted by the ToS, so use at your own risk).

Using Arch btw, Not working either, was before the update...
Same story here, was just getting into the game too. This sucks
Same here, steam deck… :(
Same here, Steam Deck.
I've got the same issue. Tried to log in about 10 minutes after the servers went live again and got the platform error.

Using Lutris with WINE 8-26 and the default SE launcher. Worked great until I loged out 25 minutes befor the maintinance started.

There is already a thread started at SE's forums about it

https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/518701-steam-deck-7.25

if anyone wants to chime in there too, it might help get the Devs attention focused on this.

From what I've been able to sus out I think the problem is that SE has made the launcher use only the WebView2 rendering engine, which doesn't work with WINE/Proton.

Finger crossed for a speedy resolution to this that works, and hopefully teaches SE to put a little more effort into QA.
came here to say same thing, pretty bummed wanted to do occult crescent this morning on my steam deck :(
will install xivlauncher and see if that works, the game is not officially supported on linux so I have little faith that either steam or se will do anything about it
