FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

Fon Apr 5 @ 10:51am
Would like to listen to people opinion, Just something i wanted to share, not really a review,
I honestly wish I could fall in love with FFXIV. Everything about it seems like something I'd enjoy — running dungeons with friends, just chilling in towns,RP like DnD. It feels like the kind of game where you can really escape and just exist in the world. But the monthly subscription makes it hard for me. I know I wouldn’t have the time to make it worth it, and I’d just feel bad for paying and barely playing. Im currently playing the free trial but it’s just something I cannot commit to pay it. Thanks

(also i know whats an mmo, i played Elder scrolls online, one time payment)

MMORPGs really need commitment, especially if you're worried about the cost of a subscription. If you don't think you're going to get your worth from your money spent, then I would advise moving on from this title.
The subscription model is what I want.

But sadly, they have done a lot to move away.

The triple dipping in monetization (box purchase, subscription, cash shop) or something else?
Maybe talking about locking content behind figurines, and other merchandise too.

man, I remember when people were defending those. "You get a free emote for buying the statue/figurine stop complaining!"

"So, can you buy the emote on its own without the statue?"

"Just buy the statue if you want the emote!"

"Then it's not free, is it?"

So funny to see things never really change.
The actual figurine is really poor quality for the cost.

Helldivers 2 Its a good game that helped me get out of MMO. Maybe you may like it. There you wont need subs. Have fun!

what's the point of this thread? if you don't like monthly subscription, find another game. this is not like to change anytime soon.
One could argue the content is falling off of being a subscription MMO.

But yes, the cash shop.

At least it isn't in game.

But its HUGE!

I get a little sad when I see players with cash shop items as otherwise they could have some item obtained in game that tells something about their character.

For people who want to pay more and support the game, sell the real figurines and shirts, etc.

I'll never forget when people celebrated the Cruise Chaser mount being in the cash shop rather than earnable in game.

So many people rather crack open their wallet, it's getting sad.

Because for a lot of people, this MMO is part of their life. It's not really a game but ''friend'' And I'm deadly serious when I'm saying this, lots of people have parasocial relationship with this game and developers, it's their friend and extension of who they are.

Oh yeah, people treat PR Man like a personal friend.

One time during Searing Gorge launch week, some fuel gatherer I had been camping because he was bad finally got me back at the end of the match and had 10 (at the time) precious seconds over my corpse.

He went through every single statue emote, I was porting back halfway thru the Shiva one.

I wonder if he knows that I still feel like I came off the winner.

The amount of times I see people asking for Field Commander Coat to go cash shop...

if you've been a gamer since your teenage years, then for $12.99 a month, I say it's a much better use of your time than watching one-dimensional entertainment like Netflix. The game gives you a renewable sense of forward momentum everyday, leveling up your character, exploring new housing design/fashion/glamour is fulfilling (for the right person); high level battle system teaches you valuable timing management & prioritization skills that perhaps one day you'll come to appreciate it in your real life job, and lastly, if you're a guy, you don't have to worry about woke politics ruining your game because if you want to simp at pretty girls, just create a miqote female character (remember, miqo = master race in this game).

If you're busy with life, there are daily activities in the game that allow you to level up your characters everyday with only 30 min (or less) of daily playtime, things like beast tribe quests & various duty roulette. I know the housing situation in the game is saturated right now, but if you're one of those who're lucky enough to win a medium or large house lottery, trust me, you'll feel lucky & unique enough to never want to unsub for the rest of your life. ^^

Ball and chain stockholm syndrome.

Predatory system meant to keep people subbed and never unsub while they dripfeed content.
