Guild Wars 2 VS FFXIV
Why people pay for this game every month while you can play guild wars 2 on steam. And you don't have to pay every month to be money slave. Guild Wars 2 just better than this game in every aspect.

I don’t wanna be nickled and dimed to play the full story just because I missed the living world events.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And their raiding contents are subpar, amount of dungeon contents are also lackluster.

Gw2 takes skill to play. Ff14 doesn't. Most 14 players will get farmed by the open world. Sure they don't get that much content but the class gameplay is 100x better. Wvw and pvp is infinte content. Fractals, raids, convergences etc...

I wouldn't say every aspect. The UI on several of the stuff is janky, with a lot of Hidden Aspects. The whole thing feels like I am trying to web browse through Internet Explorer. While "Free", it has all the Restrictions and a lot of Cost outs for F2P games, Trash Materials, a heavy push to use the Cash Shop, and a lot of Currencies for every day life in the game and most is a bit convoluted. It is also not as player friendly as I would like at times and a heavy predatory sytem that pushes players into playing more. A lot content is around Coop, and when there is not a lot of players, and you haven't pushed into Jade Boons, you lose a lot of stuff. This also includes dungeons and Fractals. Used the party finder that is heavily hidden away to fight, and dear lord, people are bad at being noob friendly on it.

FFXIV, I think handles a lot of the stuff better, in most of these aspects.

Though not to say GW2 doesn't have better things. Like, I am the biggest fan of the overworld, it is not a scene dressing like how it feels in FFXIV, it feels more like a place of adventure and lived in. I also love how fun the combat is.

FF has way more instanced content and a bigger world.
Combat is ass compared to GW2 though.
And GW2 nickel and dimes you for every piece of content just like ESO.

GW2 is the superior game but FFXIV is more accessible.
edit: Now depending on who you ask, being accessible means it is a better game than a game that has better gameplay. :cuphead:

Bigger world that has nothing to do so why is it there in the first place. Dungeons are all the same. Most instanced mechanics are the same. Gameplay is the same... 14 has a pattern for everything and it has only gotten worse

FF14 is my dress up simulator.
GW2 just like WoW, characters, clothing, the community is what i love about ff14.
GW2 and WoWs characters are very ugly and their clothing is not appealing to me.
Game could be 200 times better and i would still rather play FF14.

I tried to give GW2 a go. Played for a bit but didn’t seem to enjoy it at all personally and couldn’t feel any real attachment to the game.

The game might be great but it didn’t suit me tbh

This is pretty much why I’m very much stuck in ffxiv. It’s this attachment that simply any other MMO couldn’t provide me

Different games. Personally I hate floaty combat of GW2. It has no weight and feels like you're slapping things with noodles.

Alas I'm also not fond of lootboxes and paying MTX for convinence.

Okay, real talk. FFXIV might have infinitely bigger world, for all I care. It's very empty and devoid of any reason to actually explore said world. The sheer amount of stuff you can find by licking textures in GW2, including completely optional and unannounced content is hilarious.

You can give a lot of reasons to pick FFXIV over GW2. This is NOT one of those reasons.

I played GW2 for a little bit and enjoyed it, but I don't have any childhood emotional connection to it like I do for the Final Fantasy series. So FF14 wins by default.

gw2 you buy in game gold with RL cash

in game gold can be used to purchase end game gear, no grinding necessary (except leveling crafting, which is not really a grind)

is that a good thing? is that a bad thing? YMMV.

I will say that at least the gear in question is THE SAME; you cannot purchase with RL money something that's BETTER than the people not buying their gear have access to (unlike most P2W), so there's that

I played Guild Wars 1 religiously (over 3000 hours) and am currently unsubbed to FF14. GW2 is not good. It takes forever to get through one of the worst stories I've ever played (follower quest city, instances that make you redo 40 minutes of content if you AFK or get disconnected), and stuff like getting into an advanced class takes forever. It relies in all things on what in FF14 is a 'fates system', where people go to do events together. But unlike in FF14 if you don't have enough people to do the 'fates' in GW2 you literally just have to wait until there are more people on. Not to mention, if you even attempt to care about the story of GW2 you have to buy several story DLC in addition to the main DLCs, and if I recall correctly some of them aren't even for sale any more. NOBODY cares about the story of GW2 enough that they skip won't several years of poorly written and acted content just to rush the mounts. And if you are a huge nerd like me and try to do the story legit, get ready to walk on foot for 100+ hours while everyone blows past you on dragons, kangaroos, and eagles or whatever.

PvP? Lagfest. WvW or whatever they call it? Complete disaster. Dungeons in GW2 are just one overpowered player rushing ahead of everyone to one-shot every boss, and new players just doddle along behind them. THERE ARE FATES IN GW2 VANILLA THAT HAVE BEEN BROKEN AND ARE UNCOMPLETABLE FOR OVER A DECADE.

I don't want to be a fan boy, but here you are invading another forum to promote one of the worst MMOs I've ever played. No, man, if you want to play another good MMO try Palia or something. Dungeons and Dragons online is way better. Neverwinter. Anything else.

This is a whole lot of skill issues and hear say when almost nothing you say is true. If you break to not having mounts I think that tells enough. You are complaining about progression and exploring the world and figuring out the game and class mechanics. You can literally solo every event and most legendary bosses. Metas are meant to be done with a massive amount of ppl and there is a site where you can check what meta is on and when. Also lfg has parties up when someone is tagging up for them. Again you don't want to engage with the systems and quit when you get a bit of resistance. If that is a deal breaker then yes stay in 14 where you can run over anything and nothing feels like you are actually playing and progressing
If you want to run dungeons with noobs make your own group and say no rushing. It is that easy
Pvp is not a lag fest it's actually hard. Wvw can be laggy but only if there is full teams on all 3 sides but no other game does massive guild fights as good as gw2.
The depth of gw2s combat systems is endless and you actually need to learn the systems to play well
