FFXIV peaked 30 million players in 2024.
Steam reports about a 90,000 peak player figure.
So Steam is roughly 2-3% of the entire FFXIV playerbase.
54% (majority) of players reviewed Dawntrail as positive on Steam.
Modern education has failed so many of our young people.
How so?
54 is greater than 46. We're not building rockets here. You're suppose to make inferences from data and the data suggests, well, I don't need to spell it out for you. Right?
Brother, this isn't how numbers work. Concurrent players and total players are not the same thing.
The mostly negatives come from recent reviews in the last 30 days of the dawntrail dlc specifically which is about 99 with 29% of it being positive. The total reviews since it's release is mixed with 4,260 reviews with 54% of them positive.
Meanwhile the game itself has gotten at least 824 recent reviews within the same time period of 30 days with 93% of it being positive and who knows how much of this is in tribute to just the game as a whole or specifically the expansion.
Take this information as you wish.
Edit: Forgot to add the % of positives to the recent reviews of the dlc.
Expect more of the same, I Stopped subbing after completing Dawntrail it was that bad. I know 6 people IRL that did the same and most my ex guild members are also doing the same.
I'm kinda hoping the game fails in next expansion so SE gets a reality check and starts putting money into FFXIV instead of siphoning it for stupid side projects.
Gaslighting doesn't work unless you delete your original post.
It's right here:
30 million is the total number of unique FFXIV accounts across all platforms.
90,000 is the peak Steam concurrent player count.
The peak concurrent Steam player count as a percentage of the total number of unique accounts does not tell you what percentage of the total playerbase is on Steam. You can't calculate Steam as a percentage of total players without knowing how many total unique FFXIV accounts there are on Steam.
Are you talking to me or yourself?
That said. Dawntrail's lifetime being 'Mixed' is a real break from the trend of excellence and quite the swing and miss among the Steam community.
(Imo it's not even the worst expansion! lol)
It's pretty close, Stormblood is pretty garbage but Dawntrail is giving it a run for its money.
Stormblood MSQ was mid but in terms of overall quality, it was the best state the game has ever been in.
All the ARR jank except TP had been removed, the jobs hadn't been babyfied yet, the devs dialled in the formula for modern fight design, Eureka added longevity and replayability, ultimate was introduced. Stormblood is an easy 10/10.
Even funnier is 2024 was a peak in their player count. I wouldn't really say the reviews are mixed, I mean, every opinion by default is 'mixed' but 54 is greater than 46 if we're talking about what the 'popular' reception is since OP erroneously thought Steam reviews meant the game was 'mostly negative'.
