Buy Dawntrail, or skip to next expansion?

So I took a break, been coming back to it but nothing too serious since earlier this year. I would like to come back... but seeing the reception of this new expansion is I guess you could say nothing good.

There's like a lot of stuff I haven't finished, like crafting and gathering (really not a fan of those two activities). The island activities, the Hildibrand adventure quests, (seeing the weapons now im not a fan of the neo aesthetics to them), and BLU activities. Probably so much more. I guess I could just get dawntrail right now and resub, or just resub and ignore dawntrail?

Honestly i'm really not sure whats going on or how do i want to approach this at this point.

If you don’t like the new msq or plan to do any of the new raids, you can just resub to finish up your backlog activities.

The director said every big change is coming in 8.0 so take that as you will. Depending when you stopped or started the combat is the simplest it has ever been. Also as you might have heard the story is just garbage tier and no one knows how this got through quality check

BLU content specifically is dead one week after an update/addition to it, so you might not be happy about that.

I can't even be bothered to do my weekly Savage raids any more, DT is so boring.

Skip, Dawntrail has been a wash. The only thing missing so far of any value are the Field Operations and who knows if they will be any good.

You can just wait for the next expansion, when we get all of Dawntrail's content. Plus it will be even more cheaper by then.

Please do not take any stock in those that are literally b*tching about the XPAC.
90% of them seemingly are not able to understand the simple concept that this xpac is a lead-up to the next great adventure. Such as even the Producer/Director stated. Yet they continue to fuss on the forums because they know there are are plenty of people here whom do not research, or do their due diligence to research the information they are being waylaid with, before responding to their troll posts.

I made a new character to run the entire game, as I do with every xpac.
I do this intentionally. Mainly, to see what changes they made in the story. Because I am all about the story, that is why I am here. If they made changes by responses to a certain race, or some other thing. (which should be a thing)

It is fine. You have loads of time to decide how you want to approach this game, and please do. It is a wonderful game, full of story, emotional bits that will possibly make you cry, due to being invested in the characters one spent time with. Or you might just enjoy the sites and do other things in the Communities.

You are getting it all now. Literally.
What you just spoke of is the Dawntrail xpac itself.
There will be post xpac content, just like in the previous xpacs, leading up to more content. As Dawntrail (yet repeating this once again) was made as Lead-up content, and some fun content. It was not made to be the next adventure, we actually already have that now, in the latest patch.
