Help me understand Free trial Steam vs Square enix
Long time ago i bought the retail but never played and now i cant play without paying, So i made a new account on steam cause it was Free and figured its nice to have all games on Steam. But im reading that people have alot of problems with steam and if you make a account through steam you need to to everything through steam. Ive also seen you have play with your trial Char if you buy retail. Im so confused. Am i screwed for choosing to play on steam?

Free trial doesn't matter too much. The big decision is purchasing the game. Once you decide a platform to purchase it on, you have to stick to it. That is the only real thing though. Buying it on Steam won't stop you from using the services and buying things from their online store.

The streams don't cross. If you start on steam, you always stay on steam. If you start on Windows, you always stay on Windows. All purchases must be done through the same platform, that's all.

Playing on Steam gives you Steam tracking and that's about it. No bonus achievements or cards or anything. It also has a second layer of security that some people have been having trouble with -- because of how the Steam launcher now works, it no longer works on Linux. If you're planning on playing on Linux (or any other unsupported OS), you definitely want the direct from SE version (but please keep in mind that they may do something that breaks Linux use on that launcher in the near future, as well).

People will tell you that the trial can be switched between platforms when you upgrade to the full version, but the FAQ and SE themselves say differently (and we've had at least one huge thread lately from somebody who believed these people and got burned).

So you mean if i buy on steam i will still need to register the key on the mogstation?

Yes. If you play on Steam you still need to make and log in through a Square Enix account and register your game/expansion keys on Mogstation.
