Character missing

I logged back in today for the first time in a few months and after updating and making a square enix account to link with my steam version (as it is required now) I found that for some reason my character is just gone. Im in the same data center and same server yet for some reason it's saying I dont have a character at all and need to make one despite my appearance data still being there when I press new character.
Looking for any suggestions on what to do or anyone that knows whats going on.

Pretty sure you are logging in to a different Square Enix account. Do you remember what your character was called?

The name was Elias and it shouldnt be. I only just created the account as I didnt have one with SquareEnix until now. I just played straight through steam and like I said it still has my appearance data of my character

Theres more to the name, first and last name, also world where your character was created.

I sadly cant remember the last name but im 100 percent sure it was in marlboro and I was a Lalafell

Hmm. How did you not have any email, though? Unless it used the email of your steam somehow when you registered. Were you playing free trial or sub because for the latter, you had to connect to mogstation to set up a payment. Your old account does exist still. You just need to find how to login to it. In fact, you could search for your character on mogs, right?

It was the freetrial so I never accessed mogstation. and I managed to find my character already https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/character/37545012/

If you plan to play for longer, I do suggest protecting this new account of yours. It will be with you for as long as you have steam. (Even if you ever upgrade to a subscription model.)

I had the same thought though I still hate to lose it. Guess there is nothing I can do though as I have checked all my emails at this point and none seem to have a Square Enix account connected to any of them

If you do hate to lose it, try to remember what email you had before. Surely you had one. Though as you said, it's the first time in a few months that you try playing so maybe you had another email or something. If none of your email has a SE account then what happened?

Im not sure sadly what happened as I have been using the same 4 emails for over a year now and never used any other
