They need to pay YOU to play this slop, Most servers you literally have to coerce people to run Dawntrail Content cause it's so mindnumblingly boring after the first few times.
That said, I want to give some actually useful advice that isn't just dooming. Don't fall for the 7.2 marketing, most of the "7.2" content actually releases in 7.21 and 7.25. That is end of April for Cosmic Exploration (the crafting stuff) and end of May for Occult Crescent (the exploration zone). Spaced out in such a way that you'd need to sub at least multiple times if you decide to sub at the beginning of the micropatches.
Don't resub too early basically, or you'll just be paying a sub for no content. I'm so tired of SE trying to trick people with their misleading marketing. All the Famitsu and other gaming journos helping out by publishing clickbait like "MASSIVE 7.2 update launches March 25th!!!!!" No. No it doesn't. A ridiculously tiny little part of the update launches March 25th.
Yep, They're being beaten over the skull right now on their forums for it. Square Enix loves to gaslight people, Then expects you to remain subbed while they dripfeed.
I'm willing to bet 100$ that all of the 7.2 content is already ready to ship out and they're just holding on to it so they don't have to haul ass and work hard, Can just slowly drip feed and say content is being made.
I'm letting my sub run out and will be checking back in on the game during next freebie or when 8.0 launches i will watch gameplay on YouTube, Never getting pre-order / day 1 money again after Dawntrail.
You know there's a problem too when Content creators whom usually shill cause if FFXIV goes under their career is gone too are just dropping the game enmasse and encouraging others to do it too while they run to WoW.
YoshiP and CBu3 need to be re-assessed, Content dripfeed ain't it anymore chief especially with how much money they make off idle subs while they tell you to play other games.
Yoshi has lots of experience with MHW & Dark Souls, Bro is playing other games instead of developing XIV. It's becoming a joke, Minimal effort here.
This point i could care less if they monetize it more (Mogstation) they're gunna do it anyways . . We need monthly updates, The 4 month ♥♥♥♥ needs to stop.
Might change later if Cosmic Exploration, Occult Crescent and whatever else they add later in the expansion turn out to be more than cookie cutter implementations of old ideas but so far Dawntrail is not it.
However, there are the usual new content that comes with every expansion, and those are well worth it. The game almost never goes on sale, at least on Steam, so if you're interested in that just get it.
But if you do focus on the battle encounters then it is a big improvement over Endwalker and it is worthwhile.
The game and expansions go on sale quite often multiple times a year
If I wasn't playing actively, I would prefer to see how the game will do after 7.25 before coming back.

FF has a away of rolling the past expansions into the latest.
Maybe wait and see what expansion is next.
The writing in the the re-writes of stuff I encounter and the writing in the seasonal events does not give me an inclination that the next one will be good either. :(

The story is E-grade drag queen story hour level stuff.
Everyone gets offended in-game, you have to walk on egg-shells to survive a ban.
Massive invasion of privacy with the 3rd party tool abuse which they are not willing to fix.
Don't waste your money.
You can go 24h on some servers without seeing another soul anywhere aside from Cities & Sol 9. All the new open world regions are dead, Nobody running fates aside from on Crystal and Aether, Nobody is doing hunts.
This game needs to struggle and lose players so maybe Developers will start listening to the community. This formula will kill XIV in incoming years, it won't survive another Dawntrail.
Last LL felt... hollow. There is no way they don't see the myriad videos, articles and XIV forums both EN and JP, having so much critique and negativity about Dawntrail and changes they make. It feels like they ignore it and hope that 8.0 will fix everything.
I'm still sticking to XIV, by that I mean following news and engaging with community, NOT paying sub. I'm waiting for that Promised Land 8.0 reworks. If Formula will be the same, I'm out forever, will delete my character and lose 12k hours of my life, but this game won't be worth it anymore. For me Endwalker will be the canon ending, if 8.0 won't improve this game.
I lost all respect that i had left for SE during Dawntrail, I didn't have much left to begin with after how they treated Endwalker & Post Endwalker.
Garlean war memed, Zodiark memed, New BBEG outta nowhere, 13th closed for funsies and then forced to be an escort for an unlikable lion girl in the next expansion.
I'm letting my sub run out will visually check in on 7.5 and 8.0 (YouTube) but they ain't getting more sub money outta me till i see any improvement.
