And even in games that do allow mods, support usually pushes you to the mod's creator for troubleshooting.
For FFXIV mods the most used site is "XIV Mod Archive" just google it should be the first result, and the nexus have some too, as for the custom launcher "XIVLauncher" from goatcorp is the one i use
I don't use that mod, so I can't be sure if the issue could be related or not.
I don't like to speak on tech issues that I have no experience with.
Which is why I stated if it is the mod, the SE can't help and why.
If this was a mod issue, I would imagine it would be an error message more along the lines of "Due to a detection on your account that violate TOS".
This to me.. reads as a message saying the geo-activity of the login is an issue. So say for example, if your friend moved, or got a new IP, this could likely trigger. You have a history of logging in at X, and attempts to login at Y are showing, so to safeguard your account, it gets locked to prevent malicious activity.

Which reinforces a theory. Either your friend is suddenly on/off a VPN, or their account has been hijacked. Best to tell them to follow the email that was sent.

I had to set "CutsceneMovieOpening 1" in the ffxiv.cfg (was set to 0 on a new install)
Works fine now =)
