The Website is Atrocious and setting up an account is a nightmare

I just purchased the starter pack cause i wanted to give it a try with my friends. When i tried to launch the launcher told me to make a square enix account to play. So i opened the website and made an account. I saw they had an option to do it through steam. So i did, BIG MISTAKE, I then tried to register my code on the website, and the code doesnt work. So I looked up online and it said to log into mogstation, which I couldnt since setting up my Square Enix Account through steam gave me NO PASSWORD. Even the password reset option would just send me through steam. After lookinh around and finding no solution i press next on the game to see they wanted me to setup account there... Even though they prompted me to do this beforehand. Not to mention going through this method does not allow you to paste into the password textbox. Which is annoying for someone who uses a password manager with secure password. Especially when i cant check them. This has by far been the worse account setup experience i have ever experience in any game or online service in my life.

100% agreed it's one of the worst out of game systems that exists. I can't think of a single game that has such a cluster F of external websites.

Damn half yall didnt read my Post. The reason I could not register my key is because mogstation does not have a log in via steam like the Square Enix website. The Square Enix website for some ungodly reason made the only way for me to login was via steam, they wouldnt even allow me to add a password if I wanted to because that required the previous password which did not exist. Therefore it was impossible for me to log into mogstation to register my key because I had NO PASSWORD. I ended up having to just create a new account via the walkthrough on steam. Point is the registration process has a major bug that allows you to create an account with no password despite requiring a password for many things.

Yes the account management for ffxiv is the worst I have experienced in my 30 years of gaming. Really is terrible. I had to give up play the game for 3-4 years because of it.

Should of been around for the old FF11 days when you needed to use lodestone AND mogstation for different character services and options...But yeah installing FF14 is probably the hardest part of getting into FF14 lol

Check mog station, says I have an account with Steam in parenthesis and have all the DLC added. yet I still cannot log in through the damn launcher. Compared to other MMO's this is pretty bad. Do I just need to resub? I thought there was a free play option? Futhermore why does it not display the cost of the sub options on the mog station site?

The free play option is a heavily restricted demo version of the first two content blocks, the moment you pay for the full game, you are permanently upgraded to a full account and lose access to the demo version.

And yes, this is a Subscription Based MMO, as stated on the store page in big bolded text with an orange border you have to scroll past in order to get to the ability to purchase the game. Re-sub and you can play.

It is not that simple i bought the game and made an account but cant register through the website, mogstation or anywhere ex. I bought through steam so i launch through steam it re-directs to mogstation i follow the steps and use the 20 digit key then at the end just says cant be completed. i followed every step and it just tells me no at the end and i cant get a refund so thats cool

It's not. I just purchased the game today and I'm getting error code i2501 when trying to add a new service account. I tried through the launcher and on their website, neither works.

It's mind boggling that a company as large as SE has such a terrible website that looks like a middle schooler created it and a registration process that's not reliable.

I've been gaming my entire life and not once have I ever ran into a road block in simply registering an account, until now.

It's inexcusable and grounds for an immediate refund if steam allowed it. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful first impression.

That's not the problem the system itself is broken. I finally heard back from SE, their wonderful solution was to register my game from a different ip or try again after 24 hours. That's a clear problem on their end. Everyone knows how to setup an account, SE just makes it hard to do with various bugs.

Anyway, I get it registered, just to encounter an error an hour into the download. You would think they would allow you to continue your download where you left off, like every other modern game does, but nope! You have to start all over again from scratch which really sucks given how slow their server is. Something that would take minutes through Steam is an hour + through SE.

I'd rather support Blizzard than deal with this BS.

Problem really lies between the chair and the monitor. Streamers just click past next next without reading anything so it's no wonder. Takes few minutes total.

I guess the FF launcher changing to the Steam app and freezing is part of the IQ test too. It's a pos system whether the weebs admit it or not.
