New player, and I feel bad watching dungeon cutscenes

Every Boss fight, I notice the rest of the party has already started the battle before I even finish the movie.
Sometimes the cutscene even takes too long and I am locked out of the boss fight.
Hell, some bosses have even been killed before the cutscene even finished.

I know I can skip the scenes and watch them later at the inn, however on a first run through a dungeon, I feel like it creates nice narrative context; I don't love playing blind and then piecing the story together at the inn after the fact.

I'm only level 49 now, but tell me, is this going to get a lot worse later on? I mean, I know I can just say 'screw everyone else', but I'm also a team player. And as FFXIV is largely a story-driven game, I want to enjoy it properly and how intended, but I feel so damn anxious every time I get into a new dungeon.

I'm sorry that happened to you. It is one of the major unspoken rules in FF14 that you do not rush people watching cut scenes or pull while they are in them. It tells us when people are. 90% of the time I am either tanking or healing. If someone pulls while a cutscene is being watched by someone else I will not pull aggro off them as a tank and as a healer I will not heal them. The impatient party can then enjoy the walk back to the boss after we wipe. I've never had anyone else in the party complain about the wipe. As a community we don't tolerate that behavior.

I'm new too, at about 140 hours now, I mained a White Mage, so I always was the Healer, and I never felt bad about it. Even when the text popped up during the cutscenes that the gate will close (meaning the Tank already went in and pulled), I watched it.

It clearly tells the others that I'm watching, so if they cant wait, thats their problem.

It's like a rite of passage to get sucked by that boss by accident at least once heh

I remember during a leveling roulette run the other 3 party members were all watching the cutscene and i got pulled by accident. I felt bad and apologized but one of them just said "no worries" and we just tried again.

These days i just wait before the door barrier until they are all done watching, safer that way.

I'm new ( haha I'm also old, I hated them at release) and I hate cutscenes nI heal and I don't move til the cutters are done. I yell at the baller to wallers.

I personally love when people take the time to watch cutscenes, I have interesting conversations with those who've already seen them, for example, the merits of Cid over Thancred as eye candy rofl.

Never feel bad! People generally wait to let sprouts watch all the cut scenes. Later on, they have ready checks and all sorts of stuff. I even had people say wait for the cut scenes. Dont feel bad!

Reporting someone for watching a cutscene, would end up with you in GM jail ya know...

Tell that to GMs, they never put me in jail yet.

A short reminder to you OP: This is a "Singleplayer-based / story-based" MMORPG. Thats the main aspect of Final Fantasy XIV - to enjoy the singleplayer aspect despite playing an MMORPG.
Even it you take all the MMORPG aspects out of the game it will be a pleasurable ride - what I want to say is:

Don't feel bad - enjoy YOUR playthrough because thats how it was meant to be and designed - to enjoy a story. Don't skip - just watch - I'm a tank myself and ALWAYS wait for people watching a cutscene simply because I want them to enjoy the game and then catch up to me so we can continue further... TOGETHER.

Watch it - enjoy it and dont feel bad. Especially main scenario "Dungeons" can't be skipped anyways so we all have to watch them. Raid cutscenes are always tame. ENJOY Eorzea =)
