The combat is slow and boring change my mind
First off this is not a troll post but with as much hype as there has been around this game I just dont get it, the story is good so far all be it I am only touched the tip of the iceberg so far being im lvl 15. But as far as the combat goes its just classic tab targeting thats been used for over a decade can someone help me understand why people think FFXIV is the bees knees of MMO's. I am more pumped for New world more then anything these days that game seems some what fresh.

Level 15 is of course slow. It's like expecting to have all your massive spells when you max level 80 and are still level 6.

Thats not what im expecting but from what I have seen this game never really evolves beyond a simple 1, 2, 3 rotation and combat always seems basic even the raids.

No need to change your mind. If that's your opinion and that's what you think, then there's nothing wrong with that. The game isn't going to change for you just because you don't like it. The reality is this games combat is really bad and slow until you get into 50-60+ levels and begin to have a large amount of abilities and oGCDs you weave into them. Of course, it does improve before 50, it's just the rotations change a lot as you move deeper into the combat levels. Some classes are actually quite a bit more busy than others, with some feeling much more slow, and this changes a lot as you move into the later levels.

It's kind of weird you're pumped for New World, considering it's completely bare bones. It has absolutely nothing in it but the blueprint for the future of what it could be.

It 100% picks up end game. Doing savage and extreme content you never stop moving lol.

Kinda feel like you already made up your mind, but I'll throw in my experience. I have like 4 rows of abilities man so simplicity is not a real issue. I (as a BLM) have to balance my mana pool by alternating elements while trying to pump as much as possible. Added to this are things like Flare, or CDs like Swiftcast, Surecast, Mana Ward, Mana Font, Ley Lines, etc. Procs are also a thing. Such as my DoT having a chance to make the next cast free and instant. Fire 1 has a 40% chance to make the next Fire3 instant. You ideally want to thread those in without a dps loss. Mobility is kinda a ♥♥♥♥♥ when you need to stand still to dps, but my class can rush to allies in a pinch. Combine ALL of that and the need to be competently aware of the mechanics of any given fight and it's pretty fun. Healers are even more involved. Gotta thread dps as a healer or you'll never be good.

As you level, you'll get more skills.

A decent number of those skills will not share the same cooldown.

You'll be weaving those skills in between the usage of the skills that do follow the same cool down.

At level 15, all classes will seem slow because you don't have access to all of the skills that your class can use yet.

Well yea, at level 15 you won't be doing much.

The global cooldown is 2.5 seconds in FFXIV. That's a lot longer than WoW.

As you level you will get more abilities that are off GCD, so you can weave them between the abilities that are on GCD. The combat speeds gradually and is fairly fast once you get to around level 50. You'll eventually be using 2-3 abilities in the time you're currently using 1.

Nice well thats good to hear it picks up a bit I still plan to grind my way to max I do really like how this game handles classes its been a lot of fun switching around and trying different things out.

The combat is slow and boring in early levels for sure. But it does get more complicated and intense the further you get in the game.

Like at level 50 you will probably only be using one full bar worth of skills in combat. At level 80 you will be using over 2 full bars. And there will be things you need to keep track of besides just boss complexity.

The combat does feel slow until you get some off global cooldown abilities.

FF14 progression is very linear, tutorialized, and focuses on teaching through continuous addition of complexity.

These are just random numbers not meant to be reflective of any job but are a demonstration of what I'm talking about: You start out with one attack. Over the early levels you end up with a 1-2-3 combo. By mid ARR levels you'll usually have a 1-2-3-4 combo, and a proc or two to manage. By level 50 you'll usually have a 1-2-3-4 combo, a proc or two, and a couple OGCD abilities you weave in. By level 60-70 you'll have a 1-2-3-4-5-6 combo, several procs, a couple buffs, and several OGCD abilities. By level 80 you have a 1-2-3-4-5-6 combo, several procs, several buffs you need to maintain, several OGCD abilities you need to weave in a specific pattern, a burst phase where your 1-2-3-4-5-6 combo becomes replaced with a different combo or rotating set of skills within the phase duration, a refresh phase in to your original 1-2-3-4-5-6 combo, and then the cycle resets fully, meanwhile you're doing this in boss fights that have a myriad of mechanics that require you to constantly position correctly, dodge AoEs in a specific manner, coordinate movement with your allies, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up your rotation too much can result in your party not doing enough DPS to clear mechanics.

Multiple combos and rotations. For a hint of how many more skills you get press P and compare what you have to what you get. It’s also not so simple when you also have fight mechanics to deal with. It’s definitely more complex than WoW or ESO etc

Do Ultimate Coil of Bahamut and get back to me on that statement ;)
