I guess the main part I wanted to ask about was the mount. Are mounts easy enough to purchase in game?
Only the Company Chocobo which you get in game can be summoned as a Companion.
Cheers. :)
Hire-a-chocobo, not really a mount. It carry you on a fixed route.
Company Chocobo - purchased through Grand Company after a certain rank - the only one summonable as Companion and fight by your side
Legacy Chocobo - only for Legacy Account
Goobbue - only if you subbed for certain amount of months in 1.00
Drake - Amaljaa Reputation purchase with gil
Sylph Goobbue - Sylph Reputation purchase with gil
Coeurl - CE
Magitek Armour - Finish main story quest in 2.0
Unicorn - Whitemage quest mount
Ahriman - subscription mount
Behemoth - subscription mount
Golden Magitek Armour - 500 commendation reward
And more coming with future patch
This was actually a quest reward for a quest removed before 1.0 ended, subscription time wasn't relevant.
The helmet from the collector's edition gives a nice (albeit small) exp boost on any class you have below lvl 10, the rest of the stuff is purely aesthetic.
Since I didn't see it mentioned here: NO mount can be used until you earn the chocobo mount.
you get this mount from subscription
Handy if you're intent of leveling every class. It does actually put a noticable dent in the skill up time to 11 (I absolutely hate using leves on Trade classes before 11 since you're missing out on double xp/gil if you can't reliably HQ items)

Behemoth is for buying like 270 days worth of game time...or something around there. And the free 30 days from buying the game don't count (especially annoying if you bought both PC and Console versions since you have 60 days of time that don't count towards any rewards).
The behemoth is indeed for 270 days subscription.
