Aussie and confused :-(

Me and two buddies really want to give FF14 a go. But the account, subscription and which server to go has us completely confused.

The Steam sale entry says we need to create an account in EU because this is a PAL version (for PC? what?). Some more search seems to imply that means we need to pay in Euro's which is more expensive. Or buy via a UK based game website like ozgameshop.

finally, the ping from Australia to EU would be the worse, compared to either JP or NA. We also have no idea where the Oceanic community is at. Is it split up between JP, NA and EU?

So, so confused.

i live in australia as well and i paid in american rates , i used shiva server and seems to work good for me if that helps you out

did you create an account in EU/Other Region? or do you just go to NA and create an account. Can you still use the FF14 game from this steam sale for NA account?

i got the game jsut a couple days ago from this steam sale but i know it ends very soon , like in days . i belive i registered in EU , but i put australia , and it automatically took me to EU .

So could you still play in NA, or do you have to pick a EU server?

I assume an EU account means that you have to pay Euro's. When I go to their main site, ANZ is using eu-server. http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/

Australia players have to be EU account and pay in EURO $ for subscription.
For the latency, you can choose any server you want, but I prefer you go to Japan server, since there are a lot of SEA and Oceania players in Japan server.
If you buying GameTimeCard, be sure it is EU version other wise it will not accept it.

Is the Japan game client in Japanese? Can I download the EU game client and connect to Japanese server?

This game is very special. You can play in any server as you want. You can play English language in Japan server.
Example:
I use Japanese, you use English, we play in Japan server. My screen all display as Japanese. Your screen is all English. But when I chat in Japanese, your screen will see Japanese words in chatbox, when you chat in English words my screen show English chat.

So, you can change your language anytime at the game client before you start the game.

One of the best ways i found is to use the Mog Station and just add a subscription by using Crysta which it explains about on the site. as long as your account is set up to the right region it should be fine. I play on the amercan servers and have done since the Beta and it is always busy so no matter where you go the server you choose will be good (i chose diablos because of the name!) Just keep at it. its worth playing and sooo many amazing updates due to come out in the next month or so! :-)
