Can't Find Friends!

I did not buy the game from Steam, and I just renewed my subscription because a couple friends decided to start playing it not too long ago. So I logged in just recently and could not add people to my friendlist that were playing through the Steam client....it said that they did not exist. Do they have to be online for me to send them a friend invite? Or does using the Steam client provide completely different server?

I find this rather bothersome because I was told by other members of this community that I did not have to worry about this issue...therefore I renewed my subsription only to find out that this was indeed an issue.

Hmmmm, this is a topic I just posted myself. I was told that we all play on the same servers. The only thing I can mention is, are your friend on the same server/world? I know you can't play with friends on different worlds.

I wanted to know if I get the steam version of this game, will I be able to play with my friends on PC non-steam version, PS3, PS4 versions. I also want to know if the servers are different based on platform. If I play steam version I want to play with my friends on their non-PC version. I'd hate to buy this game and have it be stuck on my list steam list forever if I can't play with my friends.

Well I know they're on the same server...they aren't exactly online though. I figured even if they aren't online I should be able to send a friend request. But...it doesn't say they're offline or anything like that. It says they just don't exist.

Did you type the names in Player Search to see if they show up?

Yes I did. Said no results, I even searched only the first names and nothing....maybe the Player character database is down?

database if fine,,,,to add some1 to your friend list they must be online at the same time
it will always say "Unable to locate character" or something like that (cant remember the excact wording) if they offline

it is... cant add ppl when they offline.
