There are no plans for it as of now. Next milestone is suppose to be Directx 11 client sometime during next expansion.

I've heard that ffxiv works on linux with wine. And quick searching provided me with this video

It does. But the community these days is pushing for native ports. And I support that by buying games with native ports.

Or at the very least, a wine wrapped port that's supported.

I have tested this in proton and it is currently not working. It looks as if the issue has to do with the launcher trying to default to Internet Explorer to perform the login.
