Is There a General Chat Function?

Is there a general chat function like in WoW for zones and cities? And if there is how do I enter it?

Is it something that unlocks? I'm only level 5.

Or can't I enter it because I'm still on the month-long free trial? Seems kind of lonely if my tiny Thaumaturge can't speak to anyone but NPCs.

Only alternative I saw was /shout

Aye, /shout is pretty much a zone-wide chat channel. /yell is like WoW's /shout, where it's only for players nearby.

I'm liking the game so far, but it doesn't seem that social...Maybe that'll change if I find a guild?

yeah i just joined a guild and it seems really social. Ive been a hardcore wow player for years but this game is really something cant seem to get off it haha!

I don't think I'd care about being blacklisted by someone just for chatting.

didnt u know that in an MMO if u chat with ppl its pretty much an auto-blacklist...who would want to see ppl actually talking in an area and making it feel alive...the nerve of some ppl

That's what I'm not understanding about FF. No one is talking anywhere, even in the freecompany I joined. It's very strange for a MMO, especially coming from WoW and Marvel Heroes where people are chatterboxes. When there are no other characters around, it feels like I'm playing a single player game.

dont take it as granted we pretty much on a dead period atm cuse its the last month for the current endgame content so most ppl are either done or rushing to gear for 2.2 ....plus there ppl playing from ps3 so dont expect em to use the chat that much

What server are you on? on my server the FC i'm apart of tends to be pretty active during the day.

I picked the Goblin server. I couldn't find any info on any of them, so I just went with the one that had a name I liked the most lol
