Petition to add option to turn off others Glamours in FF14

To turn everyone's glamour's off except mine. I just want to see my glamour, for everyone else, i just want to see their baseline gear.


Please sign the petition if you're interested in having the option to turn off other player's glamours. Let's end the epidemic of packs of starburst or giant pink cotton candies running around in raids breaking the immersion of the baseline game:

As much as you've irked me, I'll say this bit of advice, if you want your petition to have a better chance of gaining traction, don't just post the link here, post it on the FFXIV forums, social media and anywhere else, maybe even a link to it in your Steam profile.

The more avenues you make it known on, the better.

It isn’t a serious suggestion. It’s a weird bait.

Having the ability to disable other people’s glams entirely defeats the purpose of the glam system. People use glams to choose how they want their character to appear to themselves and other players.

I can’t see it happening, but I don’t see the harm in the idea. We can already turn names/titles and free companies off, disable others spell effects and even block communication from anybody but disabling glamours is too far?

If it's easy to implement then I don't see the harm. This game has ancient servers with ancient server code, though. There's a lot of simple features that seem easy and common sense in modern MMO's that SE has admitted just wouldn't be feasible with their setup. This isn't a big enough issue to warrant any serious time investment on SE's part, though.

I would love to see a modern Final Fantasy MMO from this team, however. I don't see them creating a brand new one considering how successful this game still is, but if they ever wanted to "re-reborn" the realm to keep this game recent and capable of providing us with modern MMO amenities, that would be cool.

I mean the things you're talking about directly affect your ability to raid and added things not needed on screen can make it harder to see during a raid. If what another player chooses to wear on their character bothers somebody that much then maybe an mmo isn't for them.

Let's be honest, there are some crazy, crazy people on here.

The truth of the matter is, glams, especially glams from the cash-shop are fantasy breaking.

There's nothing that kills immersion more than going into a sick dungeon, and supposedly fighting some tough enemies, except oh wait, there are half naked people in your raid doing it because that makes sense.

Seriously, imagine all the people crying about women being half clad and naked in video games because their armor isnt 'realistic for a fantasy game', then get the ability to wear whatever they want, with fully clothed options, but instead quadruple down on female/male nakedness in a battle.

It's absolutely absurd. Sorry, but your fantasy is not my fantasy.

The option to turn glamours off for other people is a desire literally to just see more 'realistic fantasy' instead of having the original fantasy of the game ruined by people because they want to be a pink cotton candy in raid.

Like bro, I seriously don't care what you dress up as, just give me the ability to turn it off so I can legit enjoy the base content of the game.

It is rather funny though watching all the pervs mald at the idea that you have some agency into not seeing their weird stuff they want to put out.

I will say a big part of the point of working on glamours or grinding days for cool looking weapons is showing them off. The idea that you may be the only person who's actually seeing the result is a motivation killer, and that motivation to do tedious things for superficial rewards is kind of how MMO's thrive.

I can't envision SE investing any time into this mainly because it would to some extent undermine one of the main things that keeps people playing this game. Like it or not glamour is a HUGE part of this games lasting power, so any move that undermines it likely wouldn't be a smart one for SE.

SE has been introducing trusts for people who want to keep some semblance of immersion in their story dungeons. For everything else you may have to just accept that being part of a multiplayer game community is being exposed to peoples "individuality."

Uh yea, there's literally no value to 99% of this games gear other than showing off. This game has virtually no power creep, no treadmill and most content is ilvl capped, so most people who invest any amount of time into getting a piece of gear are doing it to show off. That's it's only value. That's what this game is.

SE realizes this and isn't going to do anything to undermine that. That's a reality you'll likely need to accept.

No. You can show it off to those interested. Not only am I not interested, I'm annoyed.

You're not cool looking, you're not enjoyable to be around.

You can get enjoyment from your own stuff, but don't expect me, or capitulate me to look at whatever you've conjured up with 'fantastical' imagination.

I play this MMO to be interested in the things I like, and I couldn't really care about what your own motives were.

If you're dying for attention, get that from your parents. Stop ruining my experience because you're trying to fill some need to be flashy to other people.
