FYI: The Road to 80 (Population Balancing Incentives)

HOLY BEEP YOU GUYS.

So I made a new toon on one of the new servers for a variety of reasons, and between all of the bonus XP items and the server buff, I am COMFORTABLY leveling 3 classes at the same time. I did a handful roulettes in the mid 40s to even them out (I let my dps drag), but with paying SLIGHT attention to which class I'm turning stuff in on, they stay apace. Leveling other, lower classes, with all of the the buffs to that XP is...wow.

I will say that dungeon queue times make me really really glad Data Center Travel is a thing. I could NOT get the second part of the Crystal Tower raid to pop as a healer after about ~45 minutes in queue a couple of times, so I popped over to Primal and it popped and I was done -- total time of travel, queue, and finish dungeon was less than the time I would have waited for the dungeon to pop.

That's the link to the writeup, but in a nutshell, if you make a toon on the new server cluster, you get 10 silver chocobo feathers on login, and the double XP bonus until 80. If you've never taken advantage of the new server bonus, you ALSO get 1M gil at level 30. And also, 15 days game time. The queue times are still a bit painful, but if more of you jokers come participate, they'll get better -- and until that happens, we now have DC travel and can jump over to Primal or Aether to do dungeons.

The incentive to transfer characters over is also pretty generous, but I haven't done that.

I will NEVER make any new character. I won't lose 4000 hours of personal attachment to my current one. All the story I've lived with her will be kept with me. This is too much to lose.

Why would you ever think you would lose that, or anything like that, in any way?
Making a new character does not mean ignoring any other. I have 3 different characters.
Two on Crystal and now one on Dynamis. I will -continue- to do my dailies, meet, greet and talk with those I made friendships and bonds with. Making a new character just means reliving the game, at ones own leisure, and making more friends and memories. It really is a win-win.

Yeah, only if got a house with plenty of stuff then it's a bit more complicated, but if no mansion size with lots of unrecoverable stuff in it then no biggie i guess. Depends how attached to the stuff/location. Tho on the new DC/servers there is so much open plots to buy that can upgrade location for house or buy the same if so wishes. :)

Switching server did also reset my Crystalline Conflict pvp rank from Crystal rank to unranked (so below Bronze) so pvp "progress" goes to zero. Oh well, always fast to climb back up anyways. :P

Grab a second combat class!!! Then switch between them as you start to get overleveled. You can siphon the XP off to something useful that way.
