So i have to finish all of these Story quests before i can enter Heavensward?

Hey all

So i am a new player, just hit lvl 50 on my Ninja, loved the game so far.....finished up my main story quest, got the credits to roll etc....Decided wow finally now i can enter heavensward.....after googling a bit i read that i have to finish ALL Story quests? Are you ££$£$ Serious? How much more quests are there?

Half the stuff on the AH i bought is way better then the rewards i have gotten from these quests so far, and they are grey items from the AH....My item lvl is now 90 from just cheap AH Stuff....

Please dont tell me its the journey blah blah, I think this is BS if you need to finish 100 more quests before i can enter an expansion?

Is there any quicker way into heavensward? Or do i have to do all of these boring story quests? Which seem so useless and noone else is really doing?

No, no I don't.

I know other MMOs work differently, that's because, they're other MMOs.

(I have actually played plenty of other MMOs just not these kinds of MMOs, more stuff like star trek online and such)

Forcing a player to play hours more content once lvl 50 to enter a 40$ Expansion is BS. Fan boy over the story all you want. Especially when the story is boring, and the rewards for doing so are useless once you actually in Heavensward. I can justify if people were playing the game from start and needed more content to flesh it out......but for a new player when noone does half of this stuff anymore, is not worth it.

At least they let you buy your I-90 gear on the AH instead of grinding over and over to get the tokens you need to buy the armor, making that part easier.....Not everyone plays for the story, i play to play with my friends which are way ahead and completing a story to catch up is kinda stupid.

How much longer is it once you finish the first part of the story?

To be fair, a LOT of 2.x story quests sucks. Feel like chores.

Once you get to Mogglemog the 2.X quests start to get more interesting. Just enjoy the ride

Give X to Y.....Kill 3 of X......Push ESC Zillion times through terrible cutscenes.....Amazing story...Omg its like.....better then Mass Effect and Dragon Age.....Such amazing voice acting....such well thought out quests, that you are "Forced"To do before you can progress past lvl 50 in heavensward...oh wow look i got another useless + 4 Item as a reward, along with ... omg? 100 gil? Just before i hit lvl 50 i was getting 2000 a quest.....Again...what an amazing story :P Just to do all of this for those cutscenes, makes FF14 amazing for you guys? Such Fan boys....such drones...

You are probably those annoying people who make people wait in dungeons every time just to re-watch that amazing cutscene....FF14 a Realm of Cutscenes....

Can you imagine WoW releasing Warlords of Drae but...oh no, first you need to play, TBC, Lich King, Pandaland first and grind dungeons over n over which are pointless to unlock Warlords of Drae? Considering i have already paid for it? Lol.

Fine for people like you who are geeked out since the start on FF14, and played through story as content being added, ...for a new player, i am not interested in it or to collect rewards which are useless, All i want to do is play Heavensward and carry on lvling, I dont see how this is the wrong game? The game isn't for you.

The decision is widely known and it's a very old decision dated back to FFXI which is older than WoW. A lot if not 90% of expansions (multiple btw) contents of FFXI are locked behind one thing or another. Welcome to an MMO that is NOT WoW. Welcome to an MMO that actually put some weight into story. You know what, I heard SWTOR is so successful they have to go F2P and now they decide learn from FFXIV and decide to make the upcoming expansion something of a story focus.

Seems like you're upset someone actually like the decisions. I meant like, the majority of the players.

Btw WoW lost another 1m players when HW was released. Evidently a lot of new players think differently from you.
