Unable to download patch files. Error [30413], [20496].

Cannot reinstall my game, every time I get around 45ish mb downloaded I get this error. Any help?

Was forced to reinstall due to the fact the game suddenly decided it wanted to run like crap on my PC and this was the best solution I could think of.

Hate to sound like an idiot....but I just turned off my firewall and Windows defender and it worked perfectly fine...didn't need to actually VPN into anything or start playing with my router....has anyone else tried that?

edit: only tried turning off Windows Defender b/c I know how much it causes problems with my own software I support

The issue is only with one of the patches, the way I got around it was by first identifying the patch that was causing the issue, in my case was 2016.05.26.0000.0000, then unplugged my LAN and plugged in my cellphone via USB and share my internet connection, started the client and let it download as soon as the patch is downloaded and installed, the client will start downloading the next patch, at that point pull your USB and the client will give you an error code, basically saying that it lost connection, connect your LAN and start the client one more time, and everything else should go as planned. Is a pain that the ISPs have mislabeled certain packages as torrents and therefore terminating the connection before you can finish downloading the updates.

In case this helps anyone else --- I was getting these same download (random) errors when reinstalling FF14 and all patches on a new Windows 10 machine. The VPN / DNS sounded pretty "odd" so I decided to find ffivboot.exe and instead of letting steam launch or the launcher request admin permissions during the download-- I launched ffxivboot.exe as an admin. As soon as I Launched it as an admin every download installed and downloaded with out issue. This might be a windows 10 issues or a launcher issue or I might just have been lucky but after retrying 10 times and restarting computer/router etc. launching the launcher with admin permissions was the fix for me.

Yeah, it's one or the other. I usually start by recommending VPN / DNS and if that doesn't work, recommend trying to admin settings / messing with the game files. Due to the rate at which it's the former and not the latter.

Nothing really odd actually. The game's downloader operates on ports normally used for Torrenting, and some ISPs like to block those ports to curb internet piracy. But you can see where the conflict then comes up.

I ran into this issue as well, connecting by a VPN and downloading does help resolve this.

I found connecting via Russia over the VPN for myself was the best fix.

I did try Sweden & Brunei Salamander worked for a brief period but got the same error.

I have the same problem. I tried disabling antivirus, tried VPN (I'm getting similar error but later), trade some online tips with files and nothing worked for me.
That's super sad that this problem exists for 6 years and it was never fixed by the company. It proves to my that it's not worth my time to solving it for them.

What error are you actually getting? You've posted in several threads covering multiple different errors.

Fix is still relevant in 2024. Make sure your ports are open for 55296-55551 TCP & UDP
If for some reason it is still stuck, reserve an IP address on your router for your computer (youtube / google it)
CMD:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

Restart Computer

I just temporarily disabled my firewall on my router during the download and it stopped giving me error messages.

Hello, I know I'm a few years late but this issue is still relevant to this date (2024 of April, Can you believe it?) Anyways, I might have found a work around over this, though a little unconventional, at most situational.

Typically I would use wifi to wirelessly download everything but I would get up to 3mb/s for download speeds, by the time it reaches 300 mbs it would give be this error and waste like 10-30 mins of my time. I however was curious as to what would happen if I used a residual 10cm ethernet cable I took home from class one day and used it on my laptop to connect to my router.

Long story short, I was able to download and run the game in 5 mins using my ethernet cable, gonna try and attempt to transfer the files from my laptop to my pc via portable SSD right now...

It works, finally...
