A great game in facade, but has a rotten core

I join FFXIV after Heavensward launched.
In facade, the game has beautiful scene, fluent animation, great looking characters, along with fair story.

But when you really play through. Problem comes up.
1. Network lagging: FFXIV is very intolerant to this for its retarded AOE timing.
In WoW, AOE indicator is precise both in area and timing.
In FFXIV, the AOE indicator lagging with the latency, that is, for other game, if the AOE has 2sec interval, it is 2sec, in FFXIV it is 2sec - 2*network lag.
Let along no real ping value indicator in FFXIV.
2. Dungeon mechanism: most dungeon mechanism is dull but retarded and heavily on RNG.
That is for most time, no harm should befall on you.
But at certain time point (phase transitioning AOE in most case) huge, even instant kill AOE do occur, then it may wipe just due to some silly AOE lag or someone's innocent small flaw.
Since the dungeon battle is far from fun (sleepy mechanism if DPS/HPS check out).
The out door is even unbelievably a joke.
3. The out door: the out door mobs are the most ♥♥♥♥♥♥ things in the game.
Most of the mobs had dull but imbalanced high damage.
If more than 2 mobs encounted, it nearly a doom.
Since you must survive, and can only survived with perfect dodge for low HP, any AOE lagging just kill you. (a small dodo bird crit you for over 5000HP, ha, may be all the developer are ♥♥♥♥♥ on math).

Somebody defence these as "skill check", that is not skill check, that is utterly incompetent of the game so it should bar you some silly and boring mech to keep you "been played"

It is a game much better than the original game.
But it still has many serious flaws and intolerant arrogance of developer.

There is sites wich show latency. If you have it big - try to choose another datacenter.
And yes - latency in WoW is killing you too. I know this, because played long time ago on US server. Now, on EU, i's somewhat better, but Japan FF - just perfect.

For other matter - I am still low, so I don't see instakilling mobs for now.

Dude doesn't know how to deal with his own connection issues and clearly hasn't really tried to play much at all. He's practically making up the dungeon part and the outdoor mobs thing makes me wonder if he was a moron and attacked something way above his level and now assumes everything is hard to kill.

Yeah, I was suspicious beause his claims were so damn vague. So I checked his game and play history. Hasn't even touched the game, downloaded the demo, or played it in any way.

From the sounds of things I'm willing to bet the guy's basing his rant from a particular dungeon run hes done which hasn't ended too well. Especially in the area of AOE's.

The "lag" between intervals issue sounds more to me like poor connection, whether that's because of the datacenter your playing on... or your actual internet connection I cant say.

If you have a decent internet provider have you tried testing your connection just to make sure your getting what your paying for? Try using http://www.speedtest.net/ To confirm if you aren't sure.

Other than that, I can only assume you must just be struggling to adapt to the game mechanics. Though being someone who's come from various other mmo's I can only advise you just keep practicing in that regard.

I don't understand your network latency complaints. Do you have a poor connection? In my experience, MMORPGs are very latency-tolerant compared to, say, First-Person Shooters. And indeed this holds for FFXIV. Despite playing on a North American server as a European, and having a broadband connection with occasional latency spikes, I've had zero issues with in-game latency.

Maybe I'm a special case, however.

FFXIV uses so little internet up and down that every time someone pulls this I just start laughing. You could probably get a decent connection on a 56kbps modem for an MMO.

Dude is probably in Europe and tried to use Japanese datacenter or vice versa.

Great dodo war of 1592... Poor ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pidgeons didn't stand a chance, what with all those BS 5k crits all the time. Tanks not flashing, healers not curing... and the dpses? Wouldnt stop need rolling all the bread those OAP's dropped on the park dungeon...

In true honesty, I know a friend who plays FF14 using his neighbours wifi two doors down connecting to a NA servers from europe, and he doesnt really suffer from lag either.

And in case your curious, No this guy doesnt have internet access of his own, and no, these neighbours do not know he's effectively hijacking their wifi. *facepalm*
