Got past the first phase where you kill the Ixal things. Then I got owned by the mage and other monster without getting even 1/4 of their combined health down. I'm level 19 right now. Help please? :/

The fight begins against a wave of Ixali, with Miraudont taking the right side, a Wood Wailer and Gods Quiver taking the left, and Galfrid facing off against Quzal in the center. Both Galfrid and Miraudont can take care of themselves, with Miraudont able to heal them both. The two unnamed soldiers to the left will die unless you intervene, but trying to keep them alive will make the fight more difficult. Should the wave they're fighting be defeated, a second wave will spawn (and if you're healing the soldiers, likely target you). Should this second wave be defeated, a Blanga will be summoned. The fight can be won faster by simply focusing on the boss, in which case you'll just have the initial waves to deal with.

For the second phase, you'll face off against the Lesser Gargoyle and the Masked Mage. If you don't attack the mage, he actually won't attack back. This leaves you to deal with just the gargoyle. Once it's almost dead, Yda and Papalymo will join in, proving an immense help against the mage.

Ah well there's the problem. I attacked the Mage immediately assuming he'd have less health than the Gargoyle. So I had both of them attacking me at once. I'll try just going for the Gargoyle as you've said with my next attempt. Thanks for that tip (:
